For the price level the Golf's at, they seriously couldn't offer automatic climate control at MINIMUM? I'll stick with my Mazda thanks...

It's not being cold I'm worried about... it's seeing out of the windshield!! With our TDIs, we'd be stuck driving with some frost frozen inside of the windshield for a few minutes before it'd go away... that's not ideal, that's for sure.

Thanks for answering my question about the real-world fuel mileage...  Roll Eyes

Oh, and your answer about the DSG reliability was even better... Thanks again!

I was being serious about the mileage. Also I did answer your question regarding the DSG.

Climatronic is climate control with manual fan.

2) Also, does anyone know if the new generation of TDIs is better at warming up during winter? Our '04 TDIs weren't terrible, but it's night and day compared to our V6 Sportage which warms up within minutes (small engine + not very good consumption = lots of wasted fuel = lots of heat = good in winter! Grin)
They're probably even worse as the engine is more efficient.

They have the electric heater installed on the newer TDIs, do they not?

I believe there are some numbers in the 'real world fuel economy' thread on this board somewhere but from what I remember reading the 2.5L is slightly less efficient than the 2.0T.

How is it possible that after electricity has traveled through hundreds of miles of power line then hundreds of feet (or yards) of romex in our home, that changing the last three feet of wire with something exotic, expensive (cool looking, and packaged in a pricey box) is going to make a difference?

What I'd like to see is the diesel in a 2-door, which is/was available in Europe and even here back in the 90s.

That would be my next daily driver.

Sounds like a pretty good upgrade from my 2008 GTI.  Will have to wait another 2.5 years before the lease is over.  Hopefully they will increase the HP by than or offer 4motion, that would be the cherry on top!!

It's called the R20T.  265 horsepower turbo four MkVI Golf with AWD.  In the words of Christian Siriano, it's fierce.
