 5 police cars ( note the 3 that are illegally parked) and 7 officers. 3 lane boulevard with 50 Km/Hr limit. Sunny sunday morning with no traffic or trucks. They hide the patrol cars in the crescent and the radar operator nabs "speeders" on the sidewalk. Oops, here comes another satisfied customer! 5 police cars and several officers not doing more relevant police work but disguised as tax collectors. Happy Halloween!

I really doubt there is such a thing as "illegally" parked police cars. Well, some lawyer may dig up a by-law, but really.... My son is a fairly new member of the Vancouver P. D., and he just loves it. "I park wherever I want, sidewalk, bus stop, middle of the road, etc." There are some benefits to the job.  |

I really doubt there is such a thing as "illegally" parked police cars. Well, some lawyer may dig up a by-law, but really.... My son is a fairly new member of the Vancouver P. D., and he just loves it. "I park wherever I want, sidewalk, bus stop, middle of the road, etc." There are some benefits to the job. This man is correct. It is pretty much impossible for a police car to be "illegally parked" when they are doing their job, because just about every city bylaw exempts emergency vehicles and enforcement vehicles from parking violations when they are doing their duty. |

I believe (and could be mistaken) that police cars (and other emergency vehicles) are allowed to park illegally only while executing their duties. So if a police cruiser is parked illegally while an officer responds to a call, fine. If it's parked illegally while the officer is at Starbucks getting caffeinated, I don't think that's allowed. Whether anyone would call the officer on it is another story, though! |

Nice find, Minou. With proof yet. I also don't think the illegally parked part applies, but the real issue is the Money Grab and diversion from other protection duties that would be more important (or time off instead so they would have more available when important things have to be done). No traffic, wide open straight area, perfect weather. Just add very limited access and artificially low speed limits to make the "perfect storm". And the sleezebags wonder why people don't like them. I'm including people who haven't received tickets in that opinion.
Where I'm at, the police do some things to assist and improve their image in the community. Yet they can't seem to comprehend what would be common sense to most people, how a "setup" like what is shown in this picture throws all those efforts down the toilet, and then some. |
