By looking at the number of rusted heaps rolling through the streets of Saskatoon I would venture to say that the inspections are merely a cash grab.

By looking at the number of rusted heaps rolling through the streets of Saskatoon I would venture to say that the inspections are merely a cash grab. lol, there are a few! Not a whole lot of rust out here. Winter salt use is limited, as it doesn't work when it's real cold. From my experience, there are many instances on cars from out of province, under 3 years old from down east, that look fine on the outside but are horribly corroded on brake rotors, calipers, sway bar links, strut mounts. The reason they don't do annual inspections here is pretty much everyone has a broken windshield, people only replace them when it's trade-in time |

It always amuses me to hear people in the city agonize over one stone chip or small crack in a windshield. England used to have a form of safety glass windshield in which the whole thing went white after one hit (same tempered, break into a million pieces material as we have in side windows, but with a plastic layer to hold it together). At home we'd have had to change our windshields twice a year with that stuff. |

Just older heaps. Impresses me the amount of older iron on the road out there. Thrifty, practical prairie people. |

The fact that a used car costs at least $2000 more in Saskatchewan than anywhere else in Canada may help explain why there are so many old cars on the road. Also, housing costs have become RIDICULOUS compared to what an average person makes, leaving less money to spend on a car. |

If it was easier to bring cars into the province, used car prices would drop. The car inspection process here is a blatant sop to the car dealers. |
