Wanli Winter tires
« on: October 15, 2009, 09:50:44 am »
Hi, I was thinking about getting them because of the price point. So far ive heard good things about them by people who have used them. My friend has them and he says there great. People who havent used them seem to say they suck. But i want opinions from people who have used them. Has anyone here actually used these tires in the winter. If so how are they? would you buy them again?

Thanks!

B.T.W im new to the site and i gotta say theres so much great info on here!!

Ditto.

Other good tires out there with a low price.  Look around.  You may spend a few more dollars, but that would be money well spent.

The good things you've heard about these may depend on those people's point of reference.  If they are comparing them to crap, or are comparing an all-season on ice to these, that may make these seem okay.  Or if it's the dealer telling you this, it's because he wants to sell them to you.

Nope sorry have not used.

I just put my snows on today. Very lightly used Toyo Garit KX 205/55 16 on steel rims. $400 total. I too was concerned about price point and I'm gussing but I would think that its probaly going to cost at least $400 just for a set of Wanli snows (after tax, install and balance) let alone for tires on rims.

You said you were interested in buying them becuase of the price point. All I'm saying is that at their price point you can find better qualitiy tires that are well reviewed and proven even if you need them slightly used.

If you want cheap tires, go with Korean tires at least.

Go with Barum instead.  Continental owned, made in E. Europe.  Much better low price option.

Don't say you weren't warned!  Mind you, if you were used to POS tires, then this one should seem no different.  Enjoy! :D

I know but i checked a few walmarts and they didnt have that size. only 1 had them and the DOT was from 07. no thank you. Also ive actually heard more good things about the wanli's then the nexens! And the wanli's are H rated and studless. Ive never had winters but i do run michelins as all seasons so its not that im used to pos tires.

H rated winter tires do not do as well on snow or ice as a Q to T rated winter tire.

I realize that, although thats not always the case. But i do hwy driving and my car needs V-rated tires.

Hey Fede do you have the Acura 1.6EL with 195-55-15?  If you do you could have downsized to 185-65-14 and saved you a bit more.
