Using costco now. If now costco,I try to use Shell. They seem to have the fastest pumps. Which is nice the winter when the wind is a howlin' and a -40 wind chill.

Interesting. I was filling theFit at Sunococ this am and noticed that the sticker that used to proclaim No Ethanol on 94 was missing from the pump. I guess that Gov pressured them into it... it has never been clear to me the advantage of ethanol except in winter as a gas line antifreeze and for turbo engines that need all the help they can get to keep combustion temps lower.

I use only Chevron or Shell, both if which are Top Tier. The Fit definitely runs better on 89. The Accord and the Civics are quite content with 87. If there is no noticeable improvement on a higher octane, you are wasting your money.

Chevron Canada
Shell Canada
Petro-Canada
Sunoco Canada

The Petro-Canada stations in my area all display a "May contain up to 10% ethanol" sign on the tanks. So all other things being equal, I prefer Shell Top Tier if it doesn't contain any ethanol.

I like Ultramar because of it's yearly no-nonsense mystery saving coupon promotion, which gave you $1 off on a 25 litre fillup. Only problem is, I don't seem to get the coupons anymore. $:-\$

The coupons come around each year in June and are good til early September. I always get 3-4 sets and screen the $1. ones from the $0.75 ones and exchange those first... Been doing this for years.

I started a topic earlier this summer where I claim 10% better mileage with premium in my own Sonata vs 87 regular. There are many skeptics in the room I know but these are my actual measured figures. I've been averaging around the 7 L/100 Km mark or slightly better in combined driving all summer.

Now with a ScanGauge II, I'll see on my next fill of regular if my ignition timing is retarded indicating a lower engine efficiency level and/or possible ethanol.

I use Esso if I'm near a station that has pay-at-the-pump, if not, I'll go to Irving or PetroCanada. Esso only because they have Aeroplan points.

Since the only difference is the additives they put in when they load the truck, it doesn't matter much.

Yes, that really is a good point that is rarely brought up. Do all Shell or Esso stations use the same pumps or would they vary at random as they are installed?

i use Pioneer due to price and convenience. the closest top tier is Sunoco which i might try to see if there is any difference. i've got a couple of years of gas mileage data to work with. i was also thinking of using premium fuel in my Sienna if prices stay relatively low.

i read Sunoco ownes 49% of Pioneer. not sure if what comes out of the pumps is the same?
