I was also thinking of a Venza when I got the Prius But I went for L/100km instead The Venza is a very nice package It must be a deal because you bought, as long as you are happy who cares what other people think  |

Hey, the Venza is a nice car, but you spent $91 per month over your budget. It will be very reliable and will have great resale value, although not terribly exciting. Congrats on your purchase. |

I think the Venza is a fine choice. I've looked at them several times at varous autoshows and I was impressed. It's definitley not going to be mistaken for a sports car. However, I would certainly prefer driving a Venza to the alternatives with similar interior/cargo space (Minivan or mid sized SUV). I hope you enjoy the new wheels.  |

I think the Venza is packaged well, offering a 4-cyl AWD configuration. My only peeve is the massive wheels meaning expensive tires. |

Not a deal breaker for me anyways...especially for such a nice package. And you only have to replace the tires ever 3 years or so.... No biggie IMO. Certainly 10"/20" tires don't seem to discourage pick-up truck buyers... |

A friend bought a Dodge Journey with 18" or 19" wheels last year. He balked at the price of winter tires and slip slided around all winter to save the cash. I think it makes people hang onto tires that should have been replaced until the last possible moment. Also makes them buy the cheapest replacement they can find. They may look good, but aren't the most practical. |

I'd prefer if the base Venza came with a 17" wheel/tire combo. I've found that the gains in terms of handling from going larger than 17" are marginal at best, especially for a "normal" suspension. The 20" wheels are all for looks.
On my Mercedes, we experimented quite a bit with tire/wheel combos including the OE 15" size, a +1, +2 and +3, and the best combination of ride and handling was probably the 16" set-up with a 225/50-16. The best looking was the 17" with a 225/45-17, but in all honesty, you'd have to be a pretty wicked driver to tell if there were any gains from the shorter sidewall. The 225/40-18 degraded the ride considerably, tramlined like mad, and felt no better than the 16" when pushed hard. The 18" wheels also looked a little "big" for my "old" body style MB.
I understand that the Venza's suspension/brakes allow a 17" to be fitted, which is what I'd do for winter. I'm not a big fan of winter "performance" tires. I go for max poor conditions grip, sacrificing some dry road performance. |

Total agree about the 20" wheel thing, it did turn off the Venza because of that
I am total the HL 17" wheels will fit
On the BMW I do have V rated winter tire
The reason I went with the 17" V rating is because is what the summers are
My thinking is the car will usually be out only in light snow condition, and we would still have the handling on cold dry roads |
