First Drive:
2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon

2010 Cadillac CTS Sport WagonThe 2010 CTS Sport Wagon is Cadillac's first North American factory-built wagon. Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh drives it and says it's gorgeous and a superb handler, but loses a bit of performance in the name of fuel economy.

It's funny,  everyone screams that we need more wagons and yet a day later this is the first response.  Hopefully the market is a little more excited.

Good on GM for putting this out.  They did a fantastic job with the conversion.   With the AWD I don't see any reason to buy a luxury SUV, unless you need the ground clearance of course.

Shame about the lack of manual, though entirely understandable.

I think its only the people on CTC screaming for more wagons. ;)

Still, I think we need more wagons that cost between $20-30,000 .

About the CTS, it looks nice, lots of room but sadly I think it will be a poor seller as people just prefer their SUVs to these things.

Nice to have a third car to try when the time to replace the Volvo comes. Audi has really chopped the price on the A6 Avant and added power. Good combo. Now if they will only offer a stick...

How about the new S4? The interior space must be close to the old A6.

EDIT: Forgot they only bring the sedan here.

Is this true? I have seen quite a few S4 Avants running around. They may be the previous generation though. Moot point either way becuase the interior space on the A4 is still tiny.

A good point was made on how everyone screams for mare wagons yet few buy them. Hands up. Who owns a wagon?

   (Sorry, no 'hand' icons).

Had the previous-gen Lancer Sportback, plus the current Mazda 5 if you consider that a tall wagon.  We treat the MPV as a large wagon (small minivan) with the third row usually in 'down' mode.

Very handy to have....but looking forward to a sedan again one day.

We have an Outback wagon, rear seats are always down to accommodate shelties.   Love the amount of cargo we can stuff in the back.  Oddly, I've never had an Avant and I'm on my 4th Audi.  Next one maybe.

:iagree: However, I think many people who are open to purchasing a Wagon are driving enthusiasts who want to stay away from SUV's. A manual option is probably important to this group of buyers.

Major bummer that Audi is not bringing the S4 Avant to North America. I really liked the previous gen. for the unique combination of luxury, performace, and utility.

Does the WRX hatchback count as a wagon? If so, :hello:
