It's lighter, wider, lower and faster than its predecessor and with zero front lift, and zero rear lift (when equipped with rear and front spoilers) the 332hp, new for 2009, Nissan 370Z is one exciting automobile! I have always enjoyed the 350Z and Nissan has upped the ante quite a bit with the new Z -- more so, even, than many expected. More...

Can we just skip to the driving impressions? |

How is it possible that after electricity has traveled through hundreds of miles of power line then hundreds of feet (or yards) of romex in our home, that changing the last three feet of wire with something exotic, expensive (cool looking, and packaged in a pricey box) is going to make a difference?

The 370Z I drove in the US had cloth seats. Are they not available here? |

... and you will 'screw' it up with a big a$$ turbo ... yes? ................... I think it is miles ahead of the 350Z in terms of a true sports car appearance. |

I'd always figured if I truly had some "midlife crisis" and went to blow some serious dough on a sports car, the Corvette would be pretty much it. The 350Z was nice, but not a balls-to-the-wall sports machine.
Well, some dude at Nissan said "he'd buy a CORVETTE ahead of our Z?!!"
The G37S and 370Z are now very desirable cars. |

"...what else can we ask for?..." How about a price that isn't still more that 40% higher than the U.S. base price?

370Z Touring with SportPack in the US which is the same as my tester is $37,500, my tester is $43,998 before PDI so yes it's more but not 40%!
It would be nice if we got the base model but most wouldn't buy it in Canada. |

You are not alone. Boldly making the car smaller and lighter than the 350Z, Nissan is bucking the trend of making a new model bigger and heavier like nearly all redesigned models tend to be. I hope this basic concept catches on, but I don't see anyone but Nissan (Altima, Maxima, Z) doing it. I'm really interested to hear your thoughts on the engine note. I see a lot of carping about it in other reviews, but the few times I have driven alongside a new Z, I have put my windows down to hear it and thought it sounded great. Now it's possible, but hard for me to imagine, that it somehow sounds horrible from inside the car - even allowing for the inherent subjectivity of such an assessment. Sat in old and new Z's side by side in the dealer showroom a week or so ago when the Altima was in for service. The interior improvements on the new model are significant improvement, IMHO. Jaeger |

You can't hear the exhaust within the vehicle even with the windows down |

You can't hear the exhaust within the vehicle even with the windows down That's a bummer. Maybe you need to find a long overpass or bridge, downshift and hammer it. Oh well - looking forward to your thoughts on the rev-match feature. Sounds like a brilliant concept to me. I'm just glad that someone is putting R&D dollars into actually making a better manual transmission rather than yet another flappy paddle "manumatic". Jaeger |

Very nice car indeed. I haven't test driven one, but the interior feels much better than the previous generation Z, and that was a nice car too. I test drove the Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6 and while that car was nice, drove nice, and drove fast, just sitting on a Z, without even so much as turning it on, was enough for me to realize the Z was worth the premium over the Hyundai.
I would buy one of these babies in a heartbeat. Now, funds...

While we were driving to the cottage this past weekend a 370Z passed us on hyw 400 going North. My Wife comments "Isn't that the new 370Z? You should get one of those for your next car" While trying to maintain my progress within my lane I casually mention to her that although it's nice, it only has two seats. She comments "Well, we don't need two cars that hold four people." Did I tell you that I love my Wife? Railton |

I cannot stand the styling of these new nissans...what is with those alien style gauges in the dash..?? Looks ugly..honetly, if they think they are trying to be unique with that japanese trash styling, then they are very very wrong....i want some of the original 270Z elegance back!

mlb - is that you?? Nah, he'd never describe any Nissan - even an old one - as 'elegant'. Jaeger |
