A wagon would probably suit you well. Accord Crosstour? Toyota Venza? Subaru Legacy? Volvo V70? Lots of options to pick from...

There were some good deals on Escapes with their family pricing and delivery allowances in August - they may carry over into September.

Dodge Caravan - more space, comfort.
Mazda5 - better on gas.

Hyundai Elantra Touring offers a roomy cargo area and versatility, with good economy, quality, value, and warranty.

Mazda5 is a great too if you like higher seat height, and the wide sliding doors are a godsent for strapping in and out the baby.

For compact SUVs my top pick is Subaru Forester.

We have a Forester and never want for anything larger.  This weekend I took three of us and a large load of climbing gear to the mountains.

My personal shopping list would be restricted to the Forester (and other CUV's like RAV4, CRV, etc) or the excellent Mazda5.  The 5's packaging is excellent!

<Cheesy grin because I just bought one and got into a huge debate here>

Seriously, it is a really nice car for the money.

Nissan X-Trail would be the first compact utility model I'd look into as used, if the central instruments don't bother you.

What problems? None with the car. It's a beautiful machine.

If you're talking about the peanut gallerites on here, they are no problem, just misguided.  Wink

I don't think the recent issues were with the left-over 2009s....IIRC it was the new yet-to-be-released one.  According to JD Power..the 2006 Allure is best in class for dependability...

Regarding a base Sonata, indeed a nice car but good luck finding one. All the ones on the lots here are loaded V-6 models.

The Escape seems a very good value for the money.

The Mazda5 is a nice, small van.  Have you considered a Kia Rondo? Some models have 7 seats (the Mazda only has 6).  The Rondo has an available V6 and is cheaper than the Mazda and has a great warranty.  You should also look at the Dodge Caravan...some deals to be had with those.  We just bought a Ford Taurus X which has seating for 6 and doesn't look like a minivan. AWD is also available and there are some deals out there, since this model is being phased out in favour of the Flex. You can also find some used models (when this model was the Freestyle), for around $15,000 with 60,000 km.  It all depends on your likes and dislikes.  Go to a big used car lot and look around.  Happy hunting!

last update:
got Venza V6 AWD premium package white
MSRP  34290.00
Freight  1490.00
Air        100.00

got it for 34357.30 + Bluetooth @no cost
seems to be 1522.70 below MSRP
is this a good deal/good choice?
Thank you again for all the input
