Outback beats them all for me, I'd have one any day.

The Crosstour, though, is a raised hatchback instead of a raised wagon.  It's not an affordable Japanese Audi Allroad; it's an affordable Japanese BMW X6, and that doesn't make much sense to me at all.

I think that the problem is not that the Crosstour is too expensive, it's that Honda went strictly upmarket with it... There's no base trim; it starts at EX-L with V6, leather, etc. As comparison, the Accord V6 EX-L sells for $34,390. So, you're essentially paying around a $500 premium to get the Crosstour FWD, $2500 for the AWD variant. When put in that perspective, the Crosstour isn't that highly priced, IMO.

They should just come out with a 2.4L FWD version around $26-27k... Then, it would make more sense. I'm not exactly sure how it stacks up in terms of cargo compared to the regular Accord, but if it's somewhat similar, I'd much prefer to get the Crosstour than it. Raised height, hatch back, etc.

So to everyone complaining Honda priced it too high, is an extra $500 really too much compared to the Accord? Really?

And I don't mind its look too too much. Only thing I don't like really is the big piece of black plastic they have in the hatch door... I suppose they wanted to bring cues of the Fit into this design... But I like the rest of the vehicle... the grille makes it look muscular and tough. For a raised vehicle that you can get in AWD, this look matches well with it I think. It's certainly better than any design Acura's come out with in the last couple of years, that's for sure.

???  You quoted my post, but my post didn't complain about the Crosstour's price at all.  It complained about the Crosstour's lack of cargo area compared to cars like the Outback and Venza, a totally different issue.

If they had made the Crosstour a raised wagon instead of a raised hatchback, I'd have less of an issue with it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to say you had a problem with the price... all I did was continue our discussion by adding that I didn't think it was really badly priced when compared to its sister model, but that it was still a lot of money for what you actually got.

I personally find the Venza a really good looking car, the Crosstour on the other hand, gets uglier every time I lay my eyes on it. I still can't believe someone designed that and that someone greenlighted that...

I'm not a fan of the 2010 OBW's looks, but the Honda is fugly.  I so wish Toyota would STFU about "inventing" the Crossover market with the Venza.  That would mean the Venza had been released prior to 1996 and the Outback.  Uh, no, wrong.

The Venza is a great product and yes, it's a top pick in the segment (though I'd still go Subaru) but it's not their invention.
No place I'd rather be...

I wouldn't call a lifted wagon a "crossover."  The Outback has the same body as a Legacy wagon, just with more ride height.  I'd define a crossover as an SUV-shaped vehicle with a car-based unibody construction.  I think the 1998 Lexus RX was the first vehicle to meet this description.

I personally find the Venza a really good looking car,

Really? To me it looks like something that fell out of the south end of a north bound articsteve....  :hurl:

Not bad from the side, the front is horrendous and the rear...meh.  The interior is " a la Toyota" cheap, shame.

The problem is that, compared to the Crosstour, any car looks good, even the Venza.

Many of the comments about the appearance are from people who have only seen the picture. I don't know many who have seen it in person or have driven it who was not somewhat impressed. Looks are totally subjective, but also, anything different usually takes a while to become familiar. .
As far as going up against the Toyota Venza, that would be the natural competition, however, Honda decided to only offer 3 trim levels, one engine...focusing on a specific demographic as opposed to expecting everyone to want this application. honda is expecting "emptynesters" to enjoy the luxury of the interior, perofrmance of a V6 sedan, Honda quality...with flexible storage space without having to get a cross-over SUV.

But it's not for everyone, will not be their volume model...but it deserves to be driven.

Wow...a Dawson's Creek reference...showing your incredible wit...that said, like anything else that is new, it WILL grow on people...but it won't be a volume vehicle...so the fans will love it and the haters will hate it...which is the same for every other vehicle on the market
