The Crosstour, though, is a raised hatchback instead of a raised wagon. It's not an affordable Japanese Audi Allroad; it's an affordable Japanese BMW X6, and that doesn't make much sense to me at all.
I think that the problem is not that the Crosstour is too expensive, it's that Honda went strictly upmarket with it... There's no base trim; it starts at EX-L with V6, leather, etc. As comparison, the Accord V6 EX-L sells for $34,390. So, you're essentially paying around a $500 premium to get the Crosstour FWD, $2500 for the AWD variant. When put in that perspective, the Crosstour isn't that highly priced, IMO.
They should just come out with a 2.4L FWD version around $26-27k... Then, it would make more sense. I'm not exactly sure how it stacks up in terms of cargo compared to the regular Accord, but if it's somewhat similar, I'd much prefer to get the Crosstour than it. Raised height, hatch back, etc.
So to everyone complaining Honda priced it too high, is an extra $500 really too much compared to the Accord? Really?
And I don't mind its look too too much. Only thing I don't like really is the big piece of black plastic they have in the hatch door... I suppose they wanted to bring cues of the Fit into this design... But I like the rest of the vehicle... the grille makes it look muscular and tough. For a raised vehicle that you can get in AWD, this look matches well with it I think. It's certainly better than any design Acura's come out with in the last couple of years, that's for sure.
