2010 Chevy Equinox
« on: September 02, 2009, 10:45:15 pm »
I own a 2007 Hyundai Entourage, but looking at downsizing a bit and looking for better fuel economy. Started looking at the 2010 Equinox, mainly the 2.4 4 cyl, but of course, it depends on how much I can get as trade-in as still owe on van. Most reviews seem to be on the positive side of this second generation vehicle.
I haven't test driven one yet, but has any body tried one or have even purchased one?

Giddy up...

You can check the comments people left over at Edmunds, there are 33 of them and all of them are very positive from what I've read. Fuel economy is as advertised too apparently.

The Edmunds reviews mention fit and finish more than a few times.

By searching "fit" in those reviews, I came across three direct references to fit and finish, 2 positive and 1 negative. So apparently not a problem.

This is still a Chevy. The reviews say the interior is much improved, but the "fit and finish" are lower quality in my opinion when compared to the Mazda 6 and my wife's 3.

My one gripe would be the dealer experience is still not up to par with the other guys, feels low end, they are still doing the B.S. buy now or the price will be more tomorrow

I worry that the seal between the doors and the frame is not tight enough

In all fairness, it seems like a great package and I sincerely hope that GM is on track to build efficient, cost effective and reliable vehicles. Having seen lots of ballyhoo about new GM intros over the years, only to see them fall flat on their faces, over the last 30 odd years, I will hold my judgement on a car like the Equinox until the factory warranty expires. I sincerely hope the can match their competitor's reliability and CSI ratings.

In your second example, the guy is saying that the dealer experience feels "low end", not that the car does. The same guy said that the interior was "excellent" and looked "great".

As to the third example, he said that the seal wasn't tight enough to prevent dirt from entering when he's traveling on dirt roads, that may be a fit problem, then again, maybe he's just too demanding.

Hold on to your Entourage for another year or two.  Then have a closer look at the Equinox.  First model year vehicles should be avoided if possible.

I agree. I never buy a first year model. I usually try for the last year.

Thanks for the tip. I could have used it when buying my Entourage. What a mistake.
