I voted MTB as technically thats what it is but I've converted it to have regular forks and 1.25" slicks.

Right when I ride a bike to work it's a MTB that's about two sizes too small.  A friend left it in my basement and I've adopted it.

There wasn't a link for a longboard (4 wheels) so I had to choose MTB.

Two too many wheels for this forum anyway!   ::)

A 7 year old, low end Trek (4300?) MTB. Some sort of cheapie front suspension, hard tail. Looks beat up enough that it doesn't attract attention at the bike lock-up.

My commuter is really a mongrel utility bike.  It's actually a titanium cyclocross frame built up with a steel rigid fork, single-speed coaster brake rear wheel, rack, fenders, and front wire basket.

That has got to be the oddest combo that I have ever heard of?

I've got a pair of mountain bikes - one is a little fancier but too small for me but it was free - I use this. Another mountain bike that needs a chain replaced but its overall a cheaper bike (low end Costco).

I have a Norco XCS1 and mountain bike but it isn't that good on the roads so I usually take my road bike either into work or I drive it in and we do a lunch time loop on the back roads. It is an eclipse 18 speed road bike (in house frame from peccos, a local bike shop) with a mixed 105 setup.

I voted mountain bike but it was hard to to choose.

The nice thing about bikes is that they are inexpensive enough that normal people can afford to have a whole bunch of 'em and choose and the mood / weather fits... especially if you buy used.

My usual bike is a rigid 29-inch 1x9 mountain bike - but it is sometimes single speed
My winter commute bike is a  26-inch single-speed
I sometimes take my really-really-beat-up originally 10spd now converted to fixed gear
And sometimes, I take my touring bike, which wasn't even one of the choices.

Wow!

How effective is the coaster brake?

Effective enough for a commuter.  It's the same as having only a rear brake of any other kind.  This isn't the bike I ride through the winter though, that one has disc brakes on both wheels.

Very neat.  Is it light?  Spin well? No titanium forks?   ;)

Thanks.  It's pretty light for a utility bike.  It's not that much of a spinner - I made the seating position too upright for that.  I used to have titanium forks, very springy, used to take the edge off bumps, very very light too... you could even say too light.  ;)
