Incredible mileage! I always wondered how hybrids can get such great highway mileage where there is no braking at all to regenerate the batteries; after like 50km of cruising, won't the batteries be empty and then you're only driving on fuel? 3.9L/100km seems incredibly low for a gas engine, no matter how fuel efficient the engine is! I understand the Prius itself is designed for low drag coefficient, but still. I'm impressed!  :)

Any input AB?  I'm curious too.

I always assumed that hybrids were running on gas engines alone when travelling down the highway.  That was always the argument for the hybrid system.  When cruising at highway speeds you only need x amount of power, so let's put an engine that makes x amount of power very efficiently and then add an electric motor for more power when needed.

I suspect the tuning if the Prius' small motor is largely responsible for its excellent highway economy.

Hope the CEO didnt read this.

"Confessions of a Prius owner "
"My name is Dave and I was a Toyota Prius owner for owner for one month. It's been 2 days since I last drove a Prius.
<Audience answers "Hello, Dave">
In the third week of July, I took delivery of a brand new 2010 Toyota Prius after doing weeks of research and test driving them. I thought the Prius was a great idea, practical, and that being a techie I would love the gadgetry of it.

Then something happened a few days later...I looked up, I looked at the road around me, and I listened to the car and experienced everything around me. I realized at some point that I wasn't actually driving the car, but rather I was its guest, sending mild suggestions of how I'd like it to behave and then at some point later, the car might incorporate those into its own plans. I was a mindless drone stuck in a automobile coffin. I realized that bicycles, small children with dogs, and little old ladies with walkers were passing me. I realized that with my nose buried in the MPG display I had become that obstacle that I used to hate on the road messing up the traffic flow.

I knew I had to get out, that I had sold my car loving soul to a devil car with no soul itself and do something before I was lost. I had to go cold turkey, no 2 ways about it. I didn't tell the Prius-spawn, but I secretly began plotting its demise behind its back."

The drag coefficient of the Prius is 0.25, the '93 APV was 0.3, a bullet is 0.29, a Mazda 3 is 0.29
One of the biggest change is the drive train, it has a CVT tranny, FWD and a 4 cyclindar. It has been 10 years since it has been 10 years since I had a 4 banger

The plactic is made from plants instead of oil

The smart key is pretty good, it unlocks the door as you walk up to the car

Screen for the Speedo is pretty nice, but they drop the read outs for the radio & HVAC big time, green and black writing looks like monitor from early '80's

Have free XM for 3 months, and it cut out as you drive under trees ::) Has listen to any CD's( holds 6) and the Ipod yet.

Need to find some nice 17" for the summer and leave the stock 15" for winter

Scotch Guarding the seats

Thinking of getting a clear bra

Thinking of tinting the rear windows, but wonder if the tint with to dark for the CEO in the night to see out

Need to get some heated seats installed

The plastic dash seems the same as my GMC.

Everything as much lighter feel to it compared the the Bimmer or most GM's I have had, probably since the car is made for efficiency

It's .028 for the 12' Elantra  ;D
Congrats, AirB very nice car, might have gotten that one if the budget had been a tad bigger.
