Starting at just $24,495, the turbocharged Genesis Coupe is a "good value", "genuinely attractive" and "fun to drive" says Editor in chief, Greg Wilson.  But the ride is "too stiff over broken pavement" and the rear seats "border on uninhabitable."

I like the look of this car. Sounds like they may have skimped on sound insulation to hit a price point? I know 18 inch tires are noisy and sporty cars may be noisy but its really not that difficult to dampen or at least effect the quality of the noise so its not obtrusive.

25K sounds like a bargin but a bet a lot of buyers who are in tha lower price range (young buyers) are going to get a big shock when they realize that stagered tires means they can't rotate them. If you can't rotate them the rear drive wheels are going to wear out pretty fast and they will be relpacing those big 18 inch tires at $200 plus a pop a lot more often. I know it might look cool but I think stagared tires on the base model is a bad move.

Looking forward to a test of the v6. I like the sound of that engine from clips I've heard.

The 2.0T has potential for mods, in a few years, the used car market will be full of them with mods, like the turbo Mitsu Eclipse / Eagle Talon.

Seen a number of the Genesis on the road, and the 'bulge line' of the back half kinda start to look 'weird' to me. Personally woulda prefer just basic flow and clean lines.

If this engine is as tough as the Elantra 2.0-litre (I wonder if they have anything in common), then it will probably stand up to some decent over-boosting without much modification to the internals.

I thought the 2.0T was derived from Mitsubishi?

In the past, the 4G63 Talon/EVO engine was a shared design between Mits and Hyundai.  The bottom end parts interchange, and guys have supposedly used the bottom end parts from the Elantra 2.4 to make a "stroker" Talon engine.

I'm not sure if the engines still interchange.
