Great old film explanation of how a differential works.
« on: August 08, 2009, 06:30:38 pm »
Great old film explanation of how a differential works.  This will be the best 10 minutes of your day.  Don't fast forward to 1:50 as suggested.  You'll miss some fancy motorcycle riding if you do.

Great find, thanks!!  Anyway, no time to type, as I'm making some of those giant foam wheels for "log rolling" on while driving...

 ;D
No place I'd rather be...

That's pretty good - didn't exactly see how it worked before.

That was awesome.

Plus, not only the differential bit but the curved teeth on the gears! Genius.

Good info.  I tried building my own differential based on the video and it seems to work.  :)

Great find, Wink!

Sometimes the old explanations are the best explanations.  Clear and to the point, it builds from first principles to the finished product nicely.

Yes I agree, very awesome video!

random, I think the "old" explanations work because they take their time to do it right, these days most wouldn't have the attention span to talk for 10 minutes about differentials!
