For everyone who said "the X6 would be just perfect if it had a lot more buttons and no curves."  On the plus side, the press release notes that it has the largest standard wheels in Acura's lineup.  Yay bling!   Roll Eyes

Quote
Along with head-turning styling, the Acura ZDX will boast outstanding performance from its 3.7-liter V-6 engine mated to an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission. The 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 all-aluminum engine will generate 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque for immediate acceleration response, outstanding low- and mid-range torque and superior high-rpm power. The 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters gives the Acura ZDX excellent acceleration while also enhancing fuel economy. Standard on the ZDX is Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) system. The SH-AWD® system expands the Acura ZDX's appeal by providing outstanding handling as well as superior all-season capability. Standard on the Acura ZDX are 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels; the largest standard wheel in the Acura lineup.

I'm starting to think there is a contest for what manufacturer can build the ugliest vehicle. Do not like. This actually makes the X6 look pretty. Can't wait to see how much Honda wants for one of these things.

How is it possible that after electricity has traveled through hundreds of miles of power line then hundreds of feet (or yards) of romex in our home, that changing the last three feet of wire with something exotic, expensive (cool looking, and packaged in a pricey box) is going to make a difference?

It's awful. And I read it's being positioned between the MDX and RL, to which I say it certainly doesn't look that expensive (assuming $55+) nor is it sized particularly well to compete there.

Reminds me of some of those not-so-flattering cars from the French Designers. Definitely a unique presence on the road, and how would the drivers see the road when they are wearing paperbags?

I had to read the text on the netcarshow site to realize that this is supposed to be a four door sports coupe  (their words, not mine).  You know you're in trouble with a design when its very purpose is not clear from its shape.  I could not tell if this was some new CUV, an answer to the Toyota Venza or some other life form altogether.

Perhaps ovr50 is right and soon everybody will be producing a beastie like this.  In the meantime, I offer the following memo to Honda/Acura:

When it comes to vehicles,    Form should follow function!

Even the Venza has joined this new "ugly" grill trend, to think of it Toyota grills all look the same(incredibly bland), but not as offensive as Acura.

I'm not surprised. Honda can't design cars. Grin or trucks or suvs Roll Eyes

As much as it pains me to argee with the biggest troll on this forum, I have to agree, at least on an aesthetic level.  I really don't understand what "look" Honda/Acura is going for with their recent models.  I guess Blade-Runner-futuristic?  Anyway, it's a recent occurrence (remember the NSX, the Prelude, the S2000?), but something is REALLY wrong in the Honda/Acura aesthetic design department.

The back end looks good, but overall not so much.  It doesn't look very big in pictures but its probably pretty large in person.

Along similar lines, the BMW 5GT article attached:

http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/07/22/first-look-bmw-5-series-gt-2/

I'm actually starting to dislike less/like more the appearance of this car. As they say in the attached link, you have to see this one in person. The 4.4L TT V8 in the 550iGT would be a nice touch  Grin, and it will be available w xDrive for year-round use.

Traditionalists may not agree with me.  Wink Wink

So bad. And yet they are trying so, so hard.

EDIT: And THIS, from the company that gave us the NSX, the Integra/RSX, S2000, first gen TSX, and the previous TLs...

Honestly I think they'd do better to shoehorn the current drivetrains into the previous gen sheet metal.

I was thinking the exact same thing... pretty much everything Acura has ever made before the last couple of years was beyond reproach. Integra, RSX, TSX, TL, MDX, even the EL and CSX looked great compared to their Civic equivalents. That's especially true for the first-gen TSX... I still think it's one of the better looking vehicles out there!

Things certainly aren't better over on Honda's side... whoever's been drawing and approving these re-designs should be fired... And that's only talking about the exterior appearance; we're not even talking about the crappy interior designs they've been doing recently also!!!

Amazes me how someone actually did waste his time designing this and how a group of so called "high-grade executives" green lighted something as hideous as this...
