Another list drawn up by cretins to throw rocks at some decent vehicles. Pretentiousness has nothing to do with whether a car is good or not - especially when Top Gear is doing the name calling! The Prius is a fantastic machine in its own way, but it's pretentious - it's a "look at me saving the earth!" statement. I'm not sure about the Buick, but the rest of the list seems spot on. |

In my neighbourhood, there is a guy with a Lamborghini with a big "N" sign in the rear window, signifying he is a novice driver. Any moving violation will result in a two year suspension. |

A suspension comes after 3 points - most tickets are 2. And even then, two years is not the default, it's more like three months for a suspension. |

I thought it was a pretty funny read and I've also gotta agree with most, if not all, of the cars on that list. Is anyone surprised that Top Gear omitted the also-ridiculously-pretentious '90s Jag XJs or '80s Bentleys (aka. re-badged Rollers)? I didn't think so. Another one I'd add to the list would be a Ferrari 308. Tom Selleck wannabes and/or those who don't care that a Honda Civic can outperform the car in every performance measure, just as long as it's red and has a prancing horse. |

Tom Selleck wannabes and/or those who don't care that a Honda Civic can outperform the car in every performance measure, just as long as it's red and has a prancing horse. The 308 was introduced in 1977, horse power is rated at 240'ish. Decent numbers for the time, IMO, also in consideration is the car was only around 2500 lbs. The Civics of that era were having issues going up a hill with one passenger and a bucket of KFC. Ferrari 308/328 Fan Boy |

That list is spot-on and a hilarious read. Too bad they forgot the Hummer, anything from RR or Bentley (no surprise there, eh?) and the most pretentious car on the planet, the Bugatti Veyron. |

"If you were the platinum blond, snow-blowing daughter of a savings & loan CEO, you could expect a 3-series (with an offensive red bow) parked in the driveway on your sixteenth birthday (...and later smashed against an abutment in Chappaquiddick)."
That is comedic gold.
Awesome article, except I'm crying foul on the inclusion of the 996 - it simply does not belong on the list: agreed the 996 didn't exactly represent a high point for porsche styling, and they haven't been the most mechanically robust 911's, but when they ran well, didn't they still drive like Porsches? And aren't they now very affordable, compared to the 993's and early 997's? Sure, maybe the relatively low entry price of these cars attract clueless poseurs and Lionel Hutzes, but it's also a cheap way for enthusiasts to get in on the R/R driving goodness. Not pretentious, then.
