Drove the 28i on a rainy Saturday last week.  The new twin-turbo is very powerful and yet quiet.  The handling was great and ride was pretty darn comfortable.  The car feels very planted and grips well with x drive even in very wet weather.  The space isn't enough for me, though.  I'm going to wait for the new engine to make its way to the X3.

I'd only consider it or any like it if it comes with the 4-cylinder diesel. I can handle 5.2 to 6.0 l/100 kms.

Its not like anything old came in a diesel either and certainly not in SUV types of vehicles. These same companies have other engine options available in other markets. Why do we always have to get the table scraps? I'm not much interested in the fuel consumption ratings of any AWD, 4WD, SUV. If anything, those are the vehicles that should be available in a diesel to offset their pathetic MPGs. If someone wants sports car performance/acceleration in an SUV, get a sports car.

I am getting a Jetta TDI or Golf Wagon TDI when and if my 12 year old Honda CR-V ever wears out.

Looks great they have tons in stock in downtown Toronto BMW! Just wish it wasn't same price as x3!
