BF Goodrich Traction T/A vs. Michelin Harmony/Destiny
« on: June 24, 2009, 11:53:03 pm »
I have a '98 Honda Odyssey that is used mainly in suburban GTA. A tow hook/chain that fell off a truck ripped apart my front tire today (and 7+ other cars) on the 401 near Whitby. Thus I need to quickly find replacement tires for my aging Traction T/As. I bought the T/As based on Morty's recommendations here as well as Tirerack reviews and was generally happy with them but am open to what might be better.

I could get the same or I could get Michelin Harmony/Destiny (CTC). I'd like a smooth ride, decent handling (but not carving), good fuel economy, and good snow/ice traction for GTA conditions. Any recommendations between the two? Are there others I should consider? 205/65/15s 92T right now.

I'll write my own reply - I decided to go for the Harmony/Destiny and found it to be a smooth, comfortable tire. Much quieter than the T/A and softer riding. I'd guess the sidewalls are much softer as the tire has "squishier" handling but not sloppy. Seems better in the wet. For an old, small minivan, it seems like a good compromise.

I liked the T/As when they were new, but they were a bit loud and wet and winter traction wasn't the greatest. I like the Michelin's better now. Hopefully they will perform well as they age too.

I've owned Destiny's before. In a 6 month period I plugged 2 and replaced 2.
