1969 Chevelle back on the road...
« on: June 24, 2009, 02:41:26 pm »
Hi All,

Since last winter the Chevelle got the Turbo 350 trannie rebuilt, new heater core, more interior bits replaced, new glovebox liner, new rear window trim, and went back to the body shop to have some minor scratches and other stuff excised. I also put SS exhaust on the car now so the exhaust no longer exits at the rear wheels. This has quieted down the car considerably and the torque even seems more prominent. The best or both worlds. :)

These pics are from a week ago. I have a Street Avenger carb to go in and some other tweaks to do as well.

The engine could use some more detailing but I am enjoying driving the car more than showing it.

Very nice, but how about using smaller pics so I can see the entire car at one viewing.

Some more pics...

Here is a pic from Father's Day...

Here are some pics from 2007 that show the entire car. Since then the rear window trim has been replaced and the leak from the trannie has been fixed as the transmission was rebuilt over the winter. :)

I could not own that car.  I wouldn't be able to control myself.  It would have to have tire shredding power, and it would never be enough.  It's a great platform for adding ridiculous numbers of horses.  My wife made me promise that I'd never bring home any V-8 capable old Detroit iron again.  Very nice.
No place I'd rather be...

Funny that you say that. I have thought of snagging a 454 to build and back it up with a Turbo 400 or even snagging a 502 and putting the plain quarter panel markers on to make a modern day COPO. :)

Best upgrade on the car? By far the front discs with power brakes. Much safer and calmer to drive the car now.

But don'tcha miss sticking your leg out the door for "braking assistance?"

My Camaro had 1LE brakes, so big discs on all four corners, and it was also the best upgrade I made.  Essentially 12" Cop car Caprice discs with aluminum Vette calipers and modded spindles as well as rear discs. (to replace OE rear drums) GM would sell it as a kit, but only some dealers seemed to be able to get it for you.  It was worth every penny and then some.

Nice Car Zoo...

Nothing beats a big block with a rough idle cam, Unless you tweak that small block and add a procharger.  ;D
2.0L is a soft drink, not an engine size.

Very nice.  My cousin had a '67, I believe, with a 327.  Sadly he let it rot away behind the barn.  >:(

Zoo did you put your baby back on the road yet this year? Did you work on it last winter?
