I came up with this conclusion...

Vancouver drivers are crazy, tend to tailgate and as you said take risks.
Edmonton drivers are arses, quite aggressive and discourteous.

I live in Edmonton (but spent some time in Vancouver) and have to agree!
In edmonton, I could count the number of drivers on my 2 hands over the past 7 years who have waved a hand to say "thank you" for letting them in the lane im in, in busy traffic.

In the lower mainland it may not snow as much as other areas of the country, but we are only a short trip from Whistler or the Coquihalla (for those that do not know is a major highway connecting Vancouver to the BC interior, and was actually closed yesterday due to too much snow) where you usually are required to have snows or chains to pass for 4 - 6 months of the year.

The Okanagan Connector got a 40cm dump last night.
