2007 335i New to me!

I picked up my 2007 335i this morning FINALLY after over a week since I made the deal. I'm the idiot with the big grin on his face driving around Ottawa this afternoon in the (metallic red/brown/cinnamon/whatever colour it is...) 335i sedan

Questions for the congicenti - my 2007 335i has the premium package - I have the lumbar support, the compass mirror, the garage door opener.

1) do I have bluetooth? I only have the 2008 brochure and it shows bluetooth/bmw assist as included. Not sure this was in th e2007 model. How can I tell?

2) how the b**p do you program the garage door opener. I've followed the manual (hold 1&3 down until LED flashes, the hold down a button (1) at the same time as the garage door opener. The LED flashes lowly. It's supposed to flash quickly within 15 s but... nada. The garage door opener is old, came with the house, don't think it's a rotating code (no writings on the opener or the remote). Any tricks or tips?

3) comfort and convenience features somewhere to put my CDs, coins, glasses... bwaa hah hah hah! Didn't buy the car for that anyway eh?!

If you press the "Menu" button and see the "Phone" menu item, your car has bluetooth.

The garage door opener remote only works with "HomeLink" compatible garage door openers - you can check if you opener is compatible here http://www.homelink.com/brands/gdo.tml.

Meh, convenience, schmenience.  Just wait till you see the door handles light up at night ... very bling

Congrats, your 330i looks awesome. The BMW 3 series is one of those cars that looks fast even when it is parked. The 18 inch rims really set it off as well.

I'm definately going to look for what is available in CPO 3 series cars when me lease runs out next spring.

samej - is your 335 color the Barrique Red?? It appears to be from your pix, but a bit hard to be sure. If so, it is a very interesting color, I like it, but seldom see it. Not very popular, I guess. I saw one recently at the local BMW shop, a CPO car, I think it was a 330, in Barrique.

The Barbera red color is neat also, but again seldom see it. It's a bit different from the Barrique. Both colors look smashing, clean and in bright sunlight.

From my buying/trying to buy   a BMW  I am quite sure that dealers try really hard NOT to stock any "coloured " cars apart from the no extra cost non-metallic Red.

EVERYBODY knows that BMWs should be Silver and there are several different "silver" shades, or Black with the odd white one for poor people who like washing cars. 

I am about 85% serious here.  Had I replaced my ( Oxford Green) 330 I was going to order Barrique Red.

Yes, I agree with your 85% serious post. BMWs ordered for dealer inventory all seem to be silver, black or some shade of grey. A white one gets tossing into the inventory pot occasionally. Dealer's seem afraid to order other colors; but in my mind, if they did, the unique color would find a buyer quickly (with the exception of some of the shades of green). Maybe the silvers/blacks/greys are better for resale? Not to me, they are not.

To be fair to the local dealer here, right now they have a showroom full of Alpine White vehicles, plus one in a silver/white color. There is/was a X3, a 328ci coupe, a M3 Sedan, a new Z4 35i, a 335i sedan, and an X6. The X6 was the odd color and sold just this past week.

The Barrique Red, the Barbera Red, Interlagos Blue (on certain vehicles, usually Ms), Deep Sea Blue (which was my second choice when I ordered my 535xi), Crimson Red, and others make for stunning looking vehicles, as long as certain colors are avoided on larger cars (eg. a 7 Series in Crimson Red might not be very attactive).

In the 70s, BMW had great colors such as Colorado orange, Verona Red (I had a '76 530i in Verona with beige interior - smashing color!!), Mint Green, Inka orange, etc. Most cars were 2002s, 320s, and 530s and the bright colors looked good.

But, try to find a brightly colored Benz these days, same deal. Boring silvers and greys.

There's a guy around here that has a Z4 in that colour (or something close to it) and I can't say that I'm really a fan.

But on a 3 series, it's a different story. Looks very sharp and classy. I'm sure you won't see too many BMW's around with that colour.

The 335i is a blast, enjoy it!

Come to think of it I have seen Z4's in that colour and you are correct, not as nice as on the 3-series for some reason.

Yeah - don't think I'm going to have a hard time picking my car our in a parking lot - even if I visit Toronto. I haven't seen this colour on the road at all. Last week when I was in Toronto my co-worker and I drove from the Financial district to mid-town during late rush hour (in his 323) and we kept a lookout for the colour so I could say "that colour, that's what I got". Nada - every possible shade of grey, some white and black, one blue bimmer.

Whoever's got a 2007 3 series brochure needs to look the colour up for me and email me a copy! I THINK it's Barrique Red but the colour looks like (from various comments) - brown, purple, brick, cinnamon, tawny port (my personal favourite :.>). The dealer had another 3 on the lot in an almost similr shade - but it was a tone lighter (closer to a terra cotta).

I think you can solve the problem of the color name yourself.

BMW used to (and mine has it) put a plate inside the engine compartment with the color name (in German) on the plate. Open your hood, and check around, I think you'll find it there. Mine says "Alpinweise" (close, going from memory here) which is Alpine White. I'll check that later.

My strong guess is you are Barrique Red.

If you bring your car in to any BMW service department, you can get the vehicle colour (and other interesting information) by asking them to read your key.  You can also get them to look up the options you car has based on the VIN.  I just had both of the done at Otto's.

If the other 3 similarly colour cars at the dealer are new cars, your car is probably Barrique Red (which is no longer available).

True, can be read from the key BUT with a lot less work, you can read it yourself as I stated above from the engine compartment. I checked mine, and the paint plate is on the top of the fender area, right hand side in plain view. Takes about 5 seconds to check. Some cars have them on the strut tower brace or similar location.
