At some point the door was closed with the seat belt in it which appears to have caused this problem. There is a slight bulge on the inner conner of the door which is causing the paint to get chipped off the car & the door when it closes. Any suggestion for fixing this? I really don't care what it looks like I just want to prevent rust.

I have two ideas. Putting a piece of wood up to the door and giving it a whack with the hammer. The other idea is putting a sponge on the outer half of the door and using a pair of pliers to press on the bulge.
