« on: June 08, 2009, 04:16:46 am »
hi y'all needs some advice on dodge nitro?? just bought one ..loving it :rofl2:. she looks like a baby hummer ;). anywhoooo...i have a ododmeter question!! my carfax says last reported odometer was 50,496..but on dealer repair reports milage is 25,000 off now at 81,245. it seems when it was sold at auction then to dealer it jumped from 50,496 to 81,269 within 2months. This additional km's seems wierd car looks brand new closer to 50 km's. can dealer or auction people push forward km's to make warranty void and to upsell me for extended warranty. please help love my truck... just want to know the true km's!! ??? :'(

IF the odometer was changed is there not supposed to be a sticker somewhere that says so. Maybe inside the owners handbook? On on the door jamb beside the federal sticker.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Perhaps it was used as a dealer shuttle in those 2 months?  Maybe not, that is a crapload of kms for 2 months.  ;D

50,496 miles x 1.6 km/mile = 80794 km.

50,496 miles x 1.6 km/mile = 80794 km.

 :iagree:

Beat me to it.  Is it possible that the 50,496 figure quoted was in "miles", which was then changed to kilometres?

Some old school, small town dealers still use miles in their ads.  Fack.

WOOOweee you guys are brilliant...nice job ;D  thank you guys i was about to have a bird lol  thinking they were messsin with my suv :P :-* :-*

I can rest now....y'all so smart!

Ok i have another question..try this one out???

So if my km's are at 81..and it's been only 6 days since i took delivery of my new "used" Nitro....is it my job to have the car inspected... say a 120 point inspection to make sure all is ok. My feeling is the dealer should have had all this done for me ...or are they just responsible for the checks when doing the safety and emissions? my maintenance booklet says at 80km's a few checks should be looked at ...etc rotate tires, exhaust and some other stuff....

Then...then also this questions is for an expert in DODGE Cars/engine. Once i'm driving and at a light waiting i can feel my seat and the wheel vibrate a little ..almost like the idle is high ...is this normal for a dodge engine/tranny. It's basically a new truck- 2007... should it not run steady an smooth when stopped at a red light or just in drive mode but not moving.

y'all are awesome get back..i'm a girlie girl so i'm new and i just want to do everything perfect for my new baby :-*

Dollicious:

I'm glad some of us are able to help.  Please keep your questions to this thread; there's no need to post in two other places with the same question.  Thank you!

...or are they just responsible for the checks when doing the safety and emissions?

Most dealers will do as little as it takes to get the car out of the showroom so it's most likely that all they did was a basic safety and emissions test.

Now that Chrysler is restructuring do you think they will continue with the Dodge Nitro line of trucks or is the 2009 the last year for now??

Anyone heard anything through the grapevine? :)

Speaking from personal experience, I would recommend getting the best Service Contract Chrysler offers. Do not buy an aftermarket one, it is hard to get them to pay. If you have less than 100,000 km you can still get a Gold Plan.

I'd have to agree. While I don't have any first hand knowledge of the Nitro,if it runs true to "Chrysler form",you'll need it! Getting a service contract on my 98 Grand Cherokee saved me a mint in repair costs. CR ranks the Nitro as "much worse than average" when it comes to both "reliability" and "owner satisfaction"

Isn't the Dodge Nitro a lowered Jeep Liberty with lipstick, masquerading poorly as a CUV?

If it's Liberty based there should be a huge aftermarket for parts and service shouldn't be complicated. Any competent mechanic should be able to do it.

...thanks for your input ..honda owner... I actually just recieved some information on that from chrysler and i will go with them for extended warranty for sure..great advice!! :).

i was looking at the caddi srx also.. nice inside , but big time gas guzzler with low resale value and apparently the sunroof leaks and can't see out of back window cause of third row seat which can really only fit 2 small or short passengers..too long kinda like a bus.  Go Army and Go Marines!!!!

actually the nitro was designed for the male ego very brassy, bold and sexy...some male gta drivers wear the lipstick and some put it on with the lighted vanity mirror.. :-*..acuras are nice..even when gas prices are high i wonder??..

...amongst customer satisfaction i have read 95% above average reviews... jeep actually ranks less than nitro all around, but i really liked jeeps too..newer are not built as well anymore they say
. I test drove alot of suv's then made a choice. if all cars were perfectly made there would be no need for extended warrantees or mechanics i guess..

they say..love what you have and it will be good to you...  :)

One some makes, I would not recommend on service contract. On a Chrysler, I would.
