I hate these Porsche's. Every single bloody design is the same same same old boring design. If ever meet the head of Porsche. I would give him a hard slap and I would asked him why is Porsche so lazy. We need new Porsche designs this century. Not this really boring design over and over again. Just with added new engineering bits. Wake up Porsche. Stop it with the same old crap over and over again...... Roll Eyes

Funny how you say that...when Porsche is one of the most profitable car companies. They must be doing something right? Roll Eyes Whatever, your opinion.

Its a classic, timeless design. The styling NEVER gets old, its unique and of course, its SEXY.   Drool

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, but in this case, IMO you could not be more wrong.

You'd think that would be easy at the price these things cost.

Isn't that the sort of thing you'd say to your misses if she wears same dress year after year and goes out and buys the very same thing.  Tongue

LOL isn't this the 911 thread.  Thinker

The 911 it has been the same accept with a few mods of course since it came of Stuttgart Germany in 1960's. I even heard Richard Hammond  on Topgear said  Porsche must have the lazy designers ever......I'm not lone. They are lots and lots of people like me who think that very same thing........ Smiley

And there are plenty of people who think the shape is timeless, gorgeous, and needs no change.  But of course, your opinion is for some reason worth more than theirs, I guess.  Roll Eyes

Change for change's sake does not always work.  How would your wife or girlfriend react if you announced one morning in an otherwise blissful relationship, "Well, time for a change!  We're done."?

I wish more companies stuck with an amazing design when they created one.  Change for change's sake alone is lame.  If you don't like how the 911 looks...well, there's tons of other cars out there.  But they shouldn't rearrange its exterior solely for the say of saying "now it's NEW!!!!!11"

They did try to change the 911 several times.  The 928 was supposed to replace it, 911 buyers protested, Porsche listened.  They came out with the 996, 911 buyers said it didn't look enough like a real 911, Porsche listened. Many Porsche purists think the best 911 is the 993, the last of the air-cooled beasties.
We like the heritage, the instant recognition, the quirks.    It's not always about having the latest greatest most modern styling, there are more important things, like driving.

I'm absolutely bound and determined to have a 993 before I'm 40.  As a very close 'second best', I'll quite excitedly 'settle' for an '87-88 Carrera coupe.  Maybe in white with the classic 80s white wheels too.  Thumbs up  I love the 997s too, but they'll be out of my reach for a while yet.

I'm right with you there. A 993 is first choice, although they are selling for more than a 996 nowadays.  An '87 would be my second choice, G50 tranny, no e-testing.

On a side note, right now I'm taking a break from installing larger torsion bars and very hard bushings in my '83 SC. Going up almost double in spring rates, gonna really ride like a lumber wagon now.   Now if I can just get them indexed properly, PITA.

Won't that added stiffness also exaggerate it's already legendary tail-happy snap-oversteer?

Great plan. I'm still lusting after a 1996 911 twin turbo in arena red, will have one some day.

Not if you go up the same spring rate in the front Grin
Actually I'm going up from 18.8mm to 22mm front, 87.5% spring rate increase.
In the rear I'm going from 24.1mm to 28mm,  82% increase.
This is probably the most popular setup for track performance that's still streetable.  Although with the state of Kingston's roads I'm not sure which streets I could still drive on. Cry

Cry

Every time I take my car out I regret buying the Sport because I'm convinced I'm going to ruin a rim just driving down one of our "streets".  All the construction only makes things more ridiculous.
