Twenty-six employees at Mike Doyle Dodge Chrysler in Greater Sudbury are on strike. Back on April 8, the employees, who are members of Local 2020 of the United Steelworkers of America, voted 93 per cent in favour of strike action. "Concessions are the major sticking point," said Myles Sullivan, a Steelworkers staff representative, in a news release. "The employer has kept concessions on the table that the membership is not willing to accept." According to the union, concessions the employer is seeking are the introduction of a "company-employee shared payment benefit plan (currently members share the payment of premiums only), removal of Civic holiday statutory pay, and deletion of jury duty paid leave of absence. The previous contract expired Feb. 28.
