New platform Focus that people have been crying for. Converting suv plant to small cars. Ford is gaining market share.

All good stuff. Good for Ford. I liked the last Fusion and the new one looks even better. Now they may have a very competative compact car so they will cover the two main classes.

Now that is an American car company that can be supported. Go FORD!

if they can manage a Focus hatch with performance equal to my GTI I'd be really interested in one.    I do not expect to get a "proper" Focus RS with 300 bhp but certainly 200 bhp would be fine.

Sadly I suspect a car like that will not be high on the list, initially at least.

Ford insiders have told me that the Focus ST is pretty much confirmed for North America, and also Ford has shipped 3 Focus RS to the States to gauge some feed back.

Hermann Salenbauch, Ford Motor Co.'s director of advanced product creation and global performance, says the decision to sell the Focus RS here will depend on reaction from U.S. car enthusiasts, such as Focus SVT owners.

Ford is looking for "feedback from the media and customers," he says. "How much do they like it? Is it really what they want? We are pretty confident that it is."

Here is one of the RS that was spotted in Michigan http://tiny.cc/FocusRS

All that said when and if Ford decides to offer the RS in N.A.The RS model for the United States would be based on the new platform, Salenbauch says. He did not say when it would arrive. ;)

Well if I hear a rumour there will be a Focus RS in Canada I'll be up to my local Ford dealer to ask about it and express interest.   What's more I am old enough to be able to afford the insurance!
May 2012 would be the right timing for me.
