I am a huge BMW fan, but even I can't justify the existance of the X6. I will say that the X6M looks decent though...But that's kind've like saying the Fast and Furious was better than Tokyo Drift. Still not good.

Kind of how I feel about this review by Bleakney, except the "fun" part.....

While the X6 is not a BMW I would be interested in, instead of trying (and failing) to be a funny guy, the reviewer could have made some decent comments on the new BMW TT V8 engine, which I understand, is a pretty neat piece of engineering. He also could have commented on how it handles, despite its size and weight, apparently it handles quite well. Also, comments on iDrive from reviewers how either don't take the time to understand it, or feel it's cool to knock it, are getting a bit tiresome. I drive a vehicle with iDrive daily, and not the simplified one in the new 7 and this X6, and the iDrive for anyone with half a brain is easy to use.

I guess it's the internet so who cares what you say..?! This review is one of the most useless pieces I have seen on here in over 6 years. He could have done a decent job but chose to play "smart". Spare us.

Loved the article - very witty and good for a laugh.  Which is kind of appropriate, since that was my precise reaction when I first saw an X6 on the road.  Rolling proof that BMW is capable of both the sublime and the ridiculous.

You'd be surprised at the number of these rolling around on Bay St. and Yorkville.

I really like the X6. Its got some of the nice features in the 3 series coupe and extends those to a muscular SUV/crossover. I hate that it only seats 4... thats a big wtf.

I found the review somewhat funny... but I agree with you that he needed to talk about some of the things you highlighted.

To the author's credit, he did emphasize that it goes like stink and whips around corners like a sedan.

Gorgeous car. But for 78K I'll take a M3 sedan with some decadent options.

I think the article hit the nail on the head. Let's be serious, folks - the X6 is a toy for rich boys who don't really care about mundane crap like the environment or how much finite fuel they consume. It's all about strutting your stuff and it doesn't make anymore sense than a Hummer or any of the other massive SUVs that are suddenly so unpopular. Maybe it makes even less sense - at least you could carry something in those.

Soft close door is when you don't shut the door hard enough, it automatically pulls shut.  Wow, this is a really cool feature.

...In a Hummer that uses more fuel, is SLOW and corners like a shopping cart???  At least the X6 does SOME things well (except for extreme off road).  Yes, this car is a little exercise in EXCESS, but come on!  IT definately looks unique, love it or hate it.  I happen to love it (in some colours - white being the sexiest).
No, this car is not for everyone...Hell, nowhere near everyone can afford it, but if I had the money, I would definately consider it.  It is different, stylish (subjectively), handles like it should not, and is quick.  I am young and love crossovers, but if it's plain looking, I would look elsewhere...I am not a family man, so why would I want a family car?  I am not a huge fan of coupes, either...too limiting.
So, there IS a market for this car....I just wish the Xdrive35d was available...and I wish I could afford it if it did. lol
PS Yes, I do agree that the fuel economy is kind of embarassing given the state of the environment, but if you like cars, you like cars.  Unfortunately, fuel economy suffers when you're an enthusiast.  I drive an 08 Mazda MX-5 GT, so I do have a fuel efficient car, but if I had some cheddar to spend, I can't say that I would pick such a fuel miser.

I think Jaeger hit the nail on the head.  A ridiculous review for a ridiculous vehicle.  "Sport Activity Coupe"?  Or, more properly, "2009 BMW X6 xDrive50i Sport Activity Coupe".  What idiot came up with that mess?
