Automatic. Alpine White. Photo taken while still on the dealer's lot. Picked it up April 23.

Got bodyside mouldings on it now.

My brother did something the same. Chose the Honda over the Corolla cause he liked the interior more. Myself, I looked at Mazda3 and the Corolla. Chose the Corolla cause the Mazda3 was a little to young for my age.

Enjoy!

How do you like the 2.4L engine in there?

Another member here has the same car and doesn't like the seat comfort, how's that working out for you?

Plenty of power for me. Probably more than I need for my commute to work.

I like the seats. I like the firmness. My main problem is with the EPS. I think I prefer hydraulics and the feedback I get in the wheel. My other complaint is the auxiliary port. It's mostly useless to me. The radio needs a USB 2.0 slot for MP3 playback.

I always do a double-take when seeing the latest gen Corolla S and XRS models. There's a white one around the corner from me, the owner is a TCI employee who finally upgraded from his '90s sky blue Corolla and man it looks good. The width of the front end comes across as nearly mid-size, and overall just find myself shocked that I like the looks of a Corolla. While the reported fuel economy from the 1.8L is brilliant, the choice of the 2.4 is welcome too. Well done and enjoy!

Nice Car...

I have a question for you.

The sales rep could not answer it for me when I was checking out the same car recently.

The dead pedal (foot rest pedal??)....can it be removed? I found it to be very uncomfortable and restrictive in trying to get into a comfortable position.

I don't think it can. It looked permanent when I was down there vacuuming yesterday but I'll check.

That would be great. I tried searching it on Google but there was nothing there for the latest generation Corolla.

Looks like it's permanent. Covered with carpet. I don't use it myself. I tend to keep my left leg bent when driving.

My last car was an '89 Sentra. Just basic. Not even power windows. Compared to that, this is midsize. Same class of car, but a lot of changes between then and now.

Congrats on the new ride.  It is quite a change going from a 89 Sentra (I used to have an 88).   Enjoy.

That's funny. One of my complaints about some Japanese and American cars is that they don't have a substantial or plastic covered dead pedal - often just carpet which will get filthy over the front wheel arch. That one is pretty decent.

My Astra just has carpeting and is not perfectly flat while my previous Golf and GTI have it right. Frig, the one in my Golf was huuuuuuuuuuge (didn't realize prior to looking at the photo), and my 13" foot had lots of room to move in all directions on long trips.

I like having that area to place my foot...I always found it awkward in other cars that didn't have one.

The Corolla is almost a midsizer yes...actually the trunk is not that far off my parents 08 Accord.  The Accord has a nicely sized trunk but my Corolla's is nearly as big and its actually flatter than the one in the Accord.  I think the size is just right...I didn't want a tiny vehicle and I didn't want a boat...the size of the current Corolla is just about perfect.

I find it plenty spacious myself. I'm enjoying the car. I like the seats. Radio's decent enough.

My first round trip drive on a highway. Got 7.4 L/100 km. That was using the cruise control with A/C running on low. According to the pdf document, this model has a mileage 9.4 City/6.5 Highway L/100 km. I think I read it takes about 5000 km on a new car before you start to get better mileage.

Don't use cruise control during break in.
