Day of Mourning.
« on: April 29, 2009, 12:24:23 am »
This is the 25th anniversary of the day of mourning which represents over 25,000 workers killed on the job here in Canada alone. This was started in 1984 and they have also had well over one million serious accidents on the job as well. It is held or practised in over 100 Countrys on the 28th of April every year since. We held a Memorial service at the London Labour Council to-day where the flags were lowered to half-mast for those we have lost. There has been around 98 killed already this year on various company jobsites thruout Canada  this year as well. The dam Gov just keeps watering down the laws for safety more and more. A Comapany can kill a employee thru negligence and yet be paid a heavy bonus because they lowered their so-called safety ratings to a certain level. The Labour Board may fine them say a qt of million dollars for the accident and then the Comp board rewards them for lowering their injury rate and gives them 10 times more back. None of this money ever goes to the surviving family members at all. Real fair system aye.  >:( >:( >:(

You're right about the WCB, it's BS for the seriously injured.

Its BS for any and all the inured in Ont. Money keeps going missing a lot as well. The last 2 Presidents or Chairpeople have been caught stealing from them and have had to pay it back. No charges ever filed of course.  :( :( :(

Most of the lightly injured are fakers.  I used to follow them  :), until the Rae Government banned the practice.  :P

Maybe in your family or area but I do know many real cases as well as many other people who have been hurt. Obviously your job was to say and try to catch them cheating wether it was true or not. Their Dr.s report overruled you almost every time I would imagine as how would you convince the board differently. The thieves who do this deserve to be caught of course but its not the majority at all. The Crooked ones make it very hard for the real cases to be dealt with fairly.   >:(
