Prius Price Cuts
« on: April 21, 2009, 01:00:18 pm »
I just heard on Bloomberg radio that Toyota is cutting the price on the base Prius by $1,000 in the US due to concerns about competition from the Honda Insight
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

In Canada I'm sure they'll drop some equipment and raise the price.  Maybe just raise the PDI charges to $5K or whatever.  I was so sure that when Toyota priced the 09- Corolla so aggressively, we were on our way to seeing some real value with respect to all models, including the Prius, but not so.

Why won't the US price drop come to Canada?  Because Honda is going to price the Insight right on top of the Pruis here anyway.  Honda Canada never reduced prices when the dollar rose so much, and won't come close to matching the type of value it gives US customers.
No place I'd rather be...

LOL. You know if I said that about Europe, People on this site would say why don't you live there then.  :-*

I find this all rather funny. Toyota at first sore the insight as no threat b/c there hybrid was so much advance. The Prius has been phenomenal seller. Funny how things can change on a dime. :)
