Would love to have on of these. On the 4 seat config, has still room for the bike. Here in Brazil they only sell the big brother (Transit), this one is the Transit Connect.

I actually find the site OK.

I think this is a great vehicle for small businesses that don't need the big vans and the big engines; relatively inexpensive too.

They should have 110 v plug standard equipment, so you charge your cordless batteries

Nice idea though. :D

I wish ford would bring over the fullsize transit. I can't believe there is no such thing in NA as modern full size van. Econoline and Express are long past there sell by date. These vans are rubbish old relics of the past. Bring Over the Fullsize Transit Ford. Dump the Econoline. :)

I suspect that NA van people would laugh at the idea of a full size van with a mere 4 cylinders and 140bhp AND a manual transmission... that alone would mean they'd probably have to pay more than minimum wage for the drivers. ;D

Poor Europeans, how can they manage to move the cargo with those wimpy engines?

Almost 10 years ago I drove on occasions a brand new similar van (a Fiat IIRC) full of computer equipment and it was just fine. I think it was a diesel thought. It was as easy to drive it as a car, even better than some.

Once the Americans would have the chance to convince themselves that it can be done, and even better than the vans they are using now, it may be a success. I think the Sprinter became very popular in North America.

I think the large vans for commercial fleet is not one of Ford's priorities for the transplants these days, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the new generation of the Transit making it to our shores.

Perhaps. But it will do the job and has been one of the best vans around for years. Remember what NA thought of the sprinter. It has proven to be very capable van with a 2.7 Diesel. Just a pitty that is just too expensive new and even used, to buy one. I've been looking for months and months for a low millage sprinter, that doesn't cost arm and a leg.  :)

Why is it in NA do you need such big engines. It is meanless really.  ;)

I agree.   A 1.9 litre diesel  with or without a turbo should be plenty for a VAN and in some parts of the western world its enough for a pickup truck with a 1 tonne load rating.... but then those euro/Japanese pickups are not expected to do 6 second 0-60... they are expected to be driven around sensibly.

Note in that article about the Transit Connect that it is limited to 90 km/h in some markets.

See I think I sort of know the reason that vans are not big here in NA. Most things are delivered in nothing smaller than a 15 Ton Truck and even those are not modern imo. But that is beside the point.  Vans are really a nish market. Partly why GM and Ford have been lazy making a modern van here in NA. There is no money in it really.

Ummm So I've got to wait hopefully The Astro van lasts, it is a bit small for the job,  also lets hope that it doesn't cost 50 grand like the sprinter walkthu. Then I'd be happy.  :)

Because no one cares for these ugly things.  Except you.  There are several 9 passenger vehicles avail. if you need to haul people.  If it's cargo, the Sprinter could get the job done.

Well that's what I'm saying.  Smallish market.  Hardly worth the effort.  For most, an old Econoline does the job.  It's not pretty...but it works.  For those who need modern and diesel....the Sprinter gets it done.  Athough IIRC there was a time you could get a V10 and diesel in an Econoline, no??

Its not a lovely engine. I swear they got out of a tractor. It makes tons and tons noise and down right sluggish and not that fuel efficient. I prefer the Merc Diesel any day of the week lol.
