Bye Bye Acura 1.6
« on: April 08, 2009, 06:57:00 pm »
After 12 years of service I sold my 1997 Acura 1.6 today. It was the premium model with leather and sunroof. It was a good reliable car. My wife just love it. Sold it just because it was time for a change. Replaced with a 2005 Mazda 3 sport (which I love).

Had a couple weaknesses which were Lock Actuators and suspension links failing a lot. Other that that it was great.

It only had 102,000 kms and was very well looked after. Waxed twice a year, rust proofed, synthetic oil, timing belt etc etc etc. My friends were lining up to buy it. Made the sale easy but made it hard to ask top top dollar. Settled on $4100 as a fair price.

Picture of the ride below.

Living my BMW dream.

I'd be over the moon if someone offered that for my '02 Sebring, 4 door, with 76,000 km on it.

Not for a used Honda. I was recently offered $5000 for my 1996 Civic EX. Mind you it is a Vancouver car that has never spent a night out of a garage or seen salt.

The original posters 1.6EL could have gone for $8000-9000 easily here...

In Alberta, any dealer prices used Hondas and Toyotas at their original MSRP.  Simple system.  We paid $19,047 plus taxes for our 09 Corolla CE-E/C package AT model, and lots of dealers had 05-07 models (mostly same equipment, sometimes one package lower) for pretty much the same, sometimes asking more.

We were very interested in an 06-ish model, and tried to negotiate, but everyone said "nope, we'll get this price."

It would not shock me to see a dealer asking $20K for a 1997 Acura...
