I had mixed feelings when I sat in it. I'm not judging by the pictures. The leather dash makes a hell of a difference (I find the massive plank of faux wood on the dash awful on the base model), but the other bits I mentioned are still present. Particularly, the IP is very unimpressive and the windows controls on the door for instance are straight out of the Hyundai parts bin. I wouldn’t be surprised if the IP is the same as in Sonata, Veracruz or Santa Fe.
However, I would agree that it's obvious Hyundai made all the efforts to build a luxury vehicle with mixed results IMO. What I cannot understand is why bother with leather dash when you use faux-wood and silver painted plastic in the same interior. Some high grade soft-touch plastic, real brushed aluminum and real wood would’ve been a much better choice IMO.

Add Imitation wood & leather to any car's interior will make a luxury vehicle.  Smiley

Probably a very well make vehicle, but the price point will make a lot of shoppers look else way. Sort of a high end buffet, a lot of 'good stuff' for the money, but the dinning experience isn't exactly the same.

To my taste I would rather they followed the "German minimalist" style of interior rather than the fake wood and swoopy curves design.  That M-B interior shown above tells me that M-B needs to take another try  as well.... Wink

So why are you getting a Fit

$29gs out the door for GENESIS COUPE 2.0T - Manual
Was the Fit much different after taxes?

Let's see
-no hatch
-8-10 thousand more
- different ball game

At that price 29gs for that style I would be buying a Pontiac
G-8 right now!

the 29 was with taxes in, it was written the the Fit Sport was 24gs, would be with taxes
A base G8 V6 with discounts does start at 23gs at some dealers

Back to the sedan, does the CD appear to be in the wrong sport?

Total agreement.  They missed a huge opportunity, perhaps permanently.  They could have used the same name, "genesis", for the brand and then gone with letters and numbers like Lexus.  They could have even used the same retail outlets at first.

Here's the litmus test: Will there ever be an exotic dancer with the stage name, "Hyundai"? Nope............don't think so!

I don't think an exotic dancer by the name of Rolls Royce would be very attractive.

"Rolls."  Speaks for itself.  I think of the fat dancer from Jabba the Hutt's palace.

You can get a Genesis Coupe out the door for about $26K.  That's what our local dealer told us a week or so ago....

Close. MSRP of a base coupe with no options is $26060 before tax.

Wrong.  It's $24,495 for the base 2.0T.  Our dealer said we could get it for just under $24K.

No, right. Or are you exempt from paying the $1565 freight charge?

Are you a car salesman by chance?  Where I'm from, when we talk about MSRP, freight isn't included in that figure.  Nor do all the manufacturers include freight in their MSRP.

I know what the freight is....Hmmmm...now I'm wondering if our saleswoman left out some details.  LOL...Typical of salespeople I guess....

Then you're just deluding yourself. Freight is listed on the window sticker of every car sold in Canada. It is not a discretionary amount. It is a fixed cost that is the same on the dealer's invoice as it is in the retail price. If you are having a conversation about what you can buy a car for, it is foolish to pretend that the freight charge does not exist.

And that Hyundai Coupe? Turns out that on the road price at MSRP in Ontario is $29645.55. Good luck getting that for just under $24K.

Well you must do it different where you come from.  I've bought numerous cars, and NEVER was the freight rolled into MSRP.  Never.  Like you said...freight is it's own entity and you pay no matter.  When we were briefly discussing figures, we were talking about MSRP with our salesperson.  MSRP is $24,495.  Our salesperson said we could get the car for just under $24K...again..MSRP.  Obviously taxes, freight and whatnot get added in after the fact...since generally those things are etched in stone.

I need no luck getting the car for just under the $24K MSRP.  Now getting the car for just under $24K with freight, taxes and license stuff added in..yea...that's a pipe dream for sure.

So you can buy the car, you just can't actually own it or drive off the lot for that price?  Roll Eyes

Man, who's talking like a salesman here?

We were discussing MSRP.  Not sure what's so confusing about that.....I'll let you ponder it awhile and see if some of the fog clears for you.

I do have to re-check the numbers our saleswoman told us though.....they don't jive with MSRP, freight, tax, anything.....Must be the typical smoke and mirrors salesperson thing where you need a crystal ball to figure it out...
