My New Wheels -- Spring has Sprung
« on: March 28, 2009, 02:09:22 pm »
My wife took me down to Pecco's Velos in downtown Ottawa at Christmas time for a really big surprise.  She'd ordered a custom hybrid bike for me, first time ever I've had a bike customized for me.  Frame w/ carbon fibre front and rear forks and I was able to customize everything else.  Bars, seat, seat post, brakes, gears, crank, pedals...everything.  I took it out for a ride today and I have no idea how I could've waited so long.  It fits perfectly and it's really light.

Not a car, but it's got wheels.
Opinions are like noses; everyone has one.

Congrats AC.
Those Eclipse's are Pecco's own brand. I think bolted together in Montreal.
Enjoy!

Nice bike.  I'm into cycling as well, two years ago, I bit the bullet and had a bike fully custom made http://www.truenorthcycles.com/photo-galleries/?album=1&gallery=4&nggpage=2 .  (second row far left) What a great experience, it is the first time I have ever had a bike truly fit me.

Now go ride your new bike!

From one cyclist to another, congrats on the new wheels! Nothing like a nice custom fit bike to start off the season.

Looks nice and light. Congrats. Won't you be missing front and rear suspension?

The carbon fibre forks front and rear are naturally springy.  Also, the frame isn't as stiff as my old bike's chrome moly frame.  This is good for a hybrid, but mountain bikers might opt for full suspension or a hardtail.

You should at least wait for the snow to be melted.

We are at least a month away from biking, weather wise.

Ottawa's fine.  Although I'm stuck in Montreal this week.  ;-)

How is your carbon fiber fork holding up?   Dorin had a major structural failure with his and it re-arranged his face.  :(

The carbon fiber forks are fine (front and rear).  Hadn't heard about Dorin's accident, though......?

My fork was titanium.  Really thin-walled no-name titanium from eBay.  The face is slowly get re-rearranged back to normal.  Other than some scars, my only real fear is that the jaw might have been permanently moved around a bit.
