Look out Mclaren, Ferrari and BMW! Here comes Brawn

Snippet:  "So stunning has Brawn's form been that Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello have been installed among the favourites to win the season-opening event, while some of sport’s top drivers, including Felipe Massa and Robert Kubica, have pinpointed the rescued squad as their respective team’s biggest threat."

Should be interesting!

We will see this w/e if the car is illegal under the new rules. Something about the diffuser.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Right you are!  I did a bit more digging and found this particularly well written article on the BBC site:  http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7962869.stm
Quote
The diffuser is the rear part of the floor of the car between the rear wheels and under the rear wing.  It is crucial to the aerodynamics of the car, and small changes can have a big impact on the amount of downforce - and therefore grip and speed - the car can produce.

According to what I’ve read, technically BrawnGP and ToyotaF1 are not breaking any rules. However, they are using a loophole in the regulations to stretch the diffuser rules as far as possible.

I think it’s an FiA issue not Brawn GP or Toyota, if they are within the rules and the FiA has looked at the cars and deemed them within the technical regulations why is Red Bull launching a complaint. Why don’t they (Red Bull) follow the same design approach as BrawnGP and ToyotaF1?!

Honestly, sometimes F1 teams are worse than elementary school students.

:iagree:
Ironically, Williams is also one of the teams against which the protest was launched by Red Bull.  Ross Brawn was a junior technician under Sir Frank Williams.
