I tried to teach my CUV to roll over, but all it would do is play dead...
O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 :)  Probably the safest vehicle would be a tank in a roll-over.  :)

Tests which manufacturers don't know about are great because they reveal who builds cars for all-around real-world safety and who just "teaches to the test" and designs cars to pass a few specific tests.

That XC90 held up amazingly well in the XC90-versus-Explorer video.
"Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder. What unites us is far greater than what divides us." -- John F. Kennedy, addressing Canadian Parliament.

Yup that is a version of it. I have no idea what happened to my original link. It must have been removed by Ford's legal department. ;D

That video is amazing!

If a CUV is rolled over, chances are, the vehicle will be a total loss, regardless of the star ratings. If high speed and and other vehicles are involved, the G/A/M ratings won't play a big factor.

I think the point of the roof strength ratings is to see if your head will be crushed by the roof in a roll over, or not.

Like someone else said, it looks like I'd have to remember to duck my head if I were to ever roll-over in my Sportage!

Roof strength is one thing but you'd better hope your A/B & C pillars hold up, especially B pillar which has the seat restraints attached, once your seat restraints are buggered, your head is in the roof regardless if the roof is caving in or not.

Man, that's brutal. Anyone buying a decade old Explorer - don't roll it.

The impact/intrusion speeds are different.

Impact speed is the same. Intrusion speed is dependant on how fast the roof is deforming.

One could always install a roll cage to increase survivability.

RHD ?

I would hope so, but the wipers seem to indicate LHD - unless Land Rover is one of those who don't switch the wipers around, but they're a British company...
