Yup...it that's easy.  If you tell them you have access to 94 Octane fuel, they likely can supply a different map that will bump it up another 10-15HP...:)  They generally make their "off the shelf" tunes to 91 octane, since that's what constitutes "high octane" in California...

But Snowy doesn't tell you the whole story!  It's more than the peak HP numbers Snowy is talking about.  The mid gains are staggering.  How about 25+HP@ 4600RPM....and a massive bump of 31 TQ !!

Wow ! And I thought the first car purchase was going to be floor mats ! HA !

This is indeed intriguing. What happens to the gas milage ? Will it cause any deficit of power at lower RPM's ?

The catch hides behind your engine warranty.

You can remove the map at anytime. My dealer installed all my mods and warranty is not an issue.

Mod friendly dealers

Actually it makes more power donw low..the torque bumps are tremendous.

I would imagine fuel mileage will go down..since your foot will be pushing through the firewall as often as possible... :rofl2:  It should not suffer much..remember..when you're just driving, you're not into boost.

Are there deals to be had on these...or is full MSRP the going rate?

There are deals to be had... but only at the right dealerships.  Budds has been less-than-cooperative (surprise surprise), but Bay Subaru (where Rodeo got his as well as his previous) make it worth the considerable drive to Belleville.

Worth it from the GTA... not necessarily worth it from say, Windsor, or Charlottetown, or Edmonton.  It's the second time he's gotten a Subie there and they are the 'small town dealer who cares' that you've always wanted to deal with.

There's no dealer here....so no matter, you'd be going to at least London or Sarnia.  (Check PM)

Nice wheels!  Just one question (and not to spoil the party!) are you aware of the high rate of engine failures in the WRX 265s manufactured in 2 or 3 specific months in late 2008?  An acquaintance purchased one, hoping that his wasn't one of the affected cars, only to have his engine disintegrate in the 1st week after picking it up.The subaru dealer has been awesome to him, replacing the engine over that weekend, but it makes you wonder...

Not to speak for my brother (but since he's out of the country for a few weeks, I will), but I suspect it would be an inconvenience at worst if it had the legendary engine catastrophe.  It's covered under warranty and a leased car.

The '02 WRX's apparently had a sorts of cars that destroyed their transmissions too.  Ask Snowman how many hard starts he did in his 350 hp '02 WRX without any transmission woes.

From what I have read on the subject certain WRX’s had faulty rod bearings and Subaru has simply replaced the entire engine if there is knocking or a failure.
I had no issues with my 2002 MT WRX, but I never dumped the clutch at 6000 RPM either.
