Test Drive: The all-new Kia Borrego is a competent SUV, says Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh, but it's one of many competent SUVs in a crowded field. She drives the V6 model and finds a smooth engine but a really rough ride. More: View the photos | All the Test Drives

I look at this vehicle, all I can say is why and I am a truck guy It has no styling, but I guess it fits in with a Rondo which also has no style |

The Borrego is just one more SUV in a sea of SUVs. They all look the same to me. |

Hill Start Assist in an automatic? Sorry, I do not get it in any manufactures vehicle.
Seems competent, with some value to it compared to others in its segment but that probably is not good enough. |

With even Ford talking about making the next-generation Explorer a unibody design instead of body-on-frame, I have to say that Kia's decision to introduce a body-on-frame SUV doesn't make much sense. In my experience, the sort of people who used to buy vehicles like this for daily drivers are now buying vehicles like the Hyundai Veracruz.
I would like to see them introduce a pickup truck though. And how hard would it really be, as long as they've already got this body-on-frame platform in production? And it'd probably help them recoup the platform's R&D costs, since I can't imagine the Borrego itself will succeed. |

Well Kia's expertise is with these body-on-frames... The Sorento has been pretty successful for them, so they've made a Sorento+++.
But yeah, terrible timing for this vehicle.
On the other hand, as for the Sorento now, this will make a great buy on the used market! |

Saw one last Fall in Korea in the Hyundai underground parking. Nice shiny floors eh? I thought it was a new model but it was so bland looking I wasn't sure...till now. Railton PS. Don't know what they were all looking at but I know what I was looking at. |
