I purchased a new 06 Honda in Jan 06 that had Dunlop tires. Drove 70,000 km's and the dealer and goodyear tire outlet said I did good to get that many. Now I am looking for a replacement set, and from what I can see you get what you pay for as far as tires go. The goodyear outlet said with the amount of mileage I drive which is about 23,000 km's per year I should consider Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred 135,000 km's rated. Total would be $800.00. Does anyone drive these tires on their civic. Would like to know if this is overkill for my civic or good advice. Most of my driving is highway. My intial purchase price would be around $400- $500, is this a little unrealistic. Thanks for any input, I will also around the site a bit, this is my first post.

Generally speaking most people here will suggest you get two sets of tires, one for winter and one for everything else.  If that's not an option, then the Goodyears are probably a good choice.  As for the price, once you start shopping around you'll probably find a fair amount of variation from one shop to another, so use that first quote as a benchmark and find some other places.  Your profile says you're in Kingston which I know very little about, as I'm in the GTA.

Thankyou for the post back. Good idea about shopping around with my current quote, never thought of that just assumed the tire would be the same price regardless of where I get it. They are special order item at canadian but haven't got quote from them yet.

06Honda....what tire size do you need?  I bet I can get that price lower.   Wink

I have 2 sets of the Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds....1 for my Wife's 2003 Subaru Forester & 1 for my 2005 Lexus ES 330.........but there in lies the rub    Sad  .....they are still all seasons I am afraid.

The Triple Treds are a fantastic choice for 8 out of the 12 months of the year......but I would HIGHLY suggest to get good set of winter tires for the remaining 4 months.

Why do I recommend that?  Because I just did it with both of the above vehicles & now have a dedicated set of winter rubber for my vehicles.

The difference is night & day & well worth the investment.  The best all season tire is still no replacement for winter rubber......no matter what way one looks at things.
