ME TO.. :rofl2:...I just don't understand what you are trying to prove, say???  Have you ever driven a car? Hit the gas at 100K/H and nothing happens, what is so hard to understand...???????????/
what Hyundai dealer do you work for? I will pay a visit and you can show me how to drive a Auto with the Manual mode. You gave up because you are defeated,  :rofl2:  ;D
Like I said a few times before I will retest and let you know what I find out...back to my Zoom Zoom highway driving in manual mode, 4 th gear, which is the highest, only a 4 speed auyomatic hit the gas hard and off she goes leaving your Hyundai in the dust... :popo:  this has been fun...

He's right... you aren't making much sense.  If you're in manual mode then no the car shouldn't downshift unless you tell it to. My XRS has the sport mode like your Mazda... if I'm cruising on the highway and I feel like I want to pass someone quickly then I'll shift to sport, drop a gear or two, and hit the accelerator.  I wouldn't just hit the accelerator while I was in 5th gear.... acceleration would be somewhat slower there.  I'm not too surprised that at 6th gear (which is meant for cruising) there isn't much impact.  That is two gears more than what you have and I suspect the 6th gear is very tall and therefore ideal for fuel economy.  Not really a huge problem... If you left it in auto it'd do it's thing without too much trouble I suspect.

But with all this talk about the new Tucson, you can get into a 2010 Santa Fe for very little additional carrying cost with the financing specials on currently....and you certainly have more room and functionality there.  The base Tucson just has steel wheels, whereas the base Santa Fe has alloys.

I have to admit, while I like the Tuscon, and what Hyundai have done here -- the Santa Fe is a much better value at this point in time. The SF is due for a refresh in what -- 12-18 months? It will, I expect, follow the fluid-design-motion thingy of Hyudnai's design studio in, I think, California. Nice design trends -- the new Sonata is to be significantly upper class when it comes out -- and I expect the SF to be similar.

Love my 09 SF - remember when I used to say my 06 Sonata was the best car I ever owned? Well -- guess what, the SF has eclipsed it -- surprised???  ;D

The downside here, is now the VeraCruz is looking quite tired - not sure what the future holds for it - as the SF gets more and more up-market, it well may push on sales of the VC -- in fact, I expect that it probably already has.

Newly designed SF will be done at the European studio that produced the Tucson.  Not surprised about the SF eclipsing your Sonata. I don't know what it it is exactly but I swear the SF has an almost cult like following.  Totally agree about the VeraCruz.  Rumour has it, it will be replaced very soon by something pretty spectacular wearing the Genesis Badge? We shall see...

Loved the new Tucson when I sat in it in the showroom, but saw one on the street yesterday and now I'm not so sure!  Everything looks great in the show room, but on the street.....it looked almost geeky.  May grow on me, but I had a very different reaction seeing it in traffic.

The pictures look better than the car. Somehow, on the road, the proportions seem a little ... off, or something.

Test drove one on the weekend.

It seems to be an OK vehicle. Quiet, decent pick up for a 4 cyl, firm ride, & handles well. The "cheapness" feel is still there though - interior plastics back this up. ;)

I found the FWD version to be a bit noisier than the AWD version??  ??? That shouldn't be right...
