Finally, a proper 4-cylinder option in this vehicle. I certainly would have picked that engine over the 2.7L V6 I have in mine.
I like the new design overall, but I'm curious to see if the sloped rear will eat into cargo space. It also looks like they skipped the rear popup window... big mistake, IMO.
As for the interior, it does look to be a great quality, but I'm not too fond of the center stack too much... It looks Toyota-like to me. Everything round, different 'levels' (like the seat heater buttons). I'm not sure how those air vents will work; looks like the air will be hitting the hand on the steering wheel instead of going to the driver's head. Steering wheel & gauges look great though. Overall, it's not bad, but I think I prefer the cleaner and simpler look of the stack in my Sportage.
Regarding it's size, this bit is interesting:
2010 TUCSON 61 POUNDS LIGHTER THAN THE OUTGOING MODEL DESPITE BEING THREE INCHES LONGER
• The 2010 Tucson is 3.3 inches longer and one inch wider than its predecessor, yet 61 pounds lighter
• 2010 Tucson has a longer wheelbase and overall width than CR-V, Escape and Forester to deliver more packing efficiency
• Body stiffness is 38 percent greater than Rogue
I'm curious to see if the cargo room has been improved and if the seats fold flat. Passenger space looks to be great, as it is in the current version. From what I can see, cargo volume behind rear seats went up to 25.7 cu.ft. from 22.7 cu.ft. I wonder how that translates in actual size.
Overall, another impressive vehicle from Hyundai! If pricing is similar to the outgoing model, I'm not sure why anyone would even consider the CR-V & Rogue! I can still see why people would prefer the RAV-4 (bigger) and Forester (better AWD), but what do the CR-V & Rogue offer over this new Tucson??
