Anyway in a Chevy vs Toyota contest, The Japanese never wins

If bankrutcy is the goal then so true.    Smiley

Apparently in a money-losing contest, Toyo wins hands-down -- losing a cool $7 BILLION last year, even more than GM. I  imagine there were some bloody swords found in Toyota City after that.

Ignorancethe state in which one lacks knowledge, is unaware of something or chooses to subjectively ignore information

27 February 2009
By Scott Reid
STRUGGLING carmaker General Motors was last night nursing annual losses of nearly $31 billion (£21.7bn) as it fought to stay afloat amid the worst US market for new car sales in 16 years.
The grim results came as GM chief executive Rick Wagoner and other executives met members of the car industry task force headed by US Treasury secretary Timothy Geithner and White House economic adviser Larry Summers.

Over the past four years, GM has lost $82bn and cut more than 90,000 jobs. The combined loss is equivalent to about $56 million a day since the start of 2005.

Toyota Venza leaves a lot to be desired
Quote
Bottom Line: 2009 Toyota Venza
Pros: Comfortable ride, superlative fuel economy for its size, the brand name that makes grizzled baby boomers behave like irrational adolescents

Cons: Insultingly cheap interior, lousy steering, useless automatic headlights

Verdict: Toyota is off its game and needs to refocus on giving customers more than they expect rather than thinking they won’t notice that they are being shortchanged.

Wow.
That has to be the worst automotive review I have ever read.

Looks like Toyota is planning to keep following GM.....

I don't know about the headlights, but insultingly cheap interior and lousy steering is about par for the course for Toyota...

Vehicle Tested: 2009 Toyota Venza 4dr Wagon (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Pros: Versatile wagon body style, carlike handling, powerful yet fuel-efficient V6, upscale styling inside and out, high-quality interior materials.

Cons: No third-row seat, can't haul or tow as much as many crossover SUVs.

Shut up and bail, Stevie. The good ship Toyo is sinking and they need you to carry as much water as they can before they go under.

Overall the reviews by owners is pretty good although there seems to be issues with the dash and road noise:

I'm glad to see the cheapening of Toyota's interiors is finally being noticed. I thought the new Highlander and Camry interiors were appalling when they came out considering Toyota's reputation. I have a lot of respect for this brand but it appears too much focus has been put on material cost reduction these past few years, not unlike the domestic brands and Nissan. However, Ford and Nissan have turned that page as they are improving greatly with each new model or refresh, and considering Hyundai's continuous improvement, Toyota should look in the rearview mirror and stop focusing on overtaking GM in worldwide sales.

Toyota has passed GM in world sales .... permanently.  As nice as interiors are, the future is about technology.  The company(s) that get it right now win later.

The silver paint on the center stack of the new 4Runner looks awful. Like some highschool kid painted the hand-me-down Oldsmobile  dash bad.
