Saw a Venza out today, very sharp looking IMHO, must have had the bigger wheels.  I quite like the 370Z-ish rear light treatment...

Just out of curiosity how much would a set of snow tires cost for those 20" wheels?

^^^^You would buy them in 18's/19, preferably.  I know 20's have been around for several years now....20's on the Dodge Ram for a few years now....

Its unfortunate that the original poster found his test drive with the Venza dissapointing.
I was at the dealership for an oil change and while waiting, I checked, sat on all the seats and looked into nooks and cranny of the Venza. Nice interior materials, very attractive fabric seats and awesome panoramic roof for its price range.  It has a hint of the Lexus RX350 profile in a lowered form. This is a very modern "station wagon", no matter what they call it now.  I like it a lot.  I talked to one of the sales guy there and he mentioned that the Venza arrived three weeks ago and they have sold 28 units already. I was going to test drive it, however, there were 4 others ahead of me. I will do it next time.  That dark brown color is very classy looking and has my name on it when I win the lottery.  Smiley

As a side note, this CUV is really attracting the mature crowd, based on the folks waiting for a test drive.

I think you'll find they just didn't know where they were...

20" winter tires?  I'd say you're pushing $2500-$3000 if you buy in Canada.

That may be a bit on the high side for tires. My 535xi has 4 Dunlop WinterSportM3s in 225/50R17 size Runflats (always more money) AND 4 17" BMW oem #138 alloy wheels with TPMS parts for about $3400 total (and BMW prices are never the cheapest).

I'm going to guess that 4 20" (or go down to 19") tires only would cost no more that about $1500 in Canada.  Huh

The tires are 245/50R20.  The closest size I could find at the Canadian Tire website was 255/50R20, and those ranged from $549.49 (Continental CrossContact Winter) to $628.99 (Continental Conti4x4WinterContact).

1010Tires in the States has Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25s in the correct size for $409.99 each.  Toyo Observe G-02 Plus go for $355.99 each.

Besides, TireRack is not representative of regular retail prices.  That's why I posted from 1010tires instead.

I've bought two sets from them in the last year.  They are great to deal with and will quote you an all in price with shipping, duty and taxes included so there are no surprises.  The tires show up in three days, and I get a local guy to put them on for me.

Is it just me or anything or not many people will appreciate paying more than 150$ for winter tires on a vehicle like this? I mean, it's not a $60k Lexus... it's a $30k Toyota!

Let me try and alleviate some of this Venza winter tire hysteria (exaggerated or uncontrollable emotion or excitement).

The Venza will take a 17 inch wheel, either V6 or I4, 2WD or AWD.  16 incher will not clear the front wheel caliper.  Toyota dealers will be selling a black steelie for about $89.  For those that hate steelies any Avalon or Camry SE 17 inch alloy or aftermarket alloy will fit.  Bolt pattern has not changed.

I like it a lot.  I talked to one of the sales guy there and he mentioned that the Venza arrived three weeks ago and they have sold 28 units already.

And those are all V6 models.  I4s have yet to arrive and they will be by far the volume sellers.

As a side note, this CUV is really attracting the mature crowd, based on the folks waiting for a test drive.

Yep, ppl with money.  That's always a good demographic.  Smiley

The Venzas currently going out the door are the loaded up V6 models ranging from 38K to 40K with PDI & Freight.  Not quite the Kia crowd.  Wink

That's great to hear and good news for all prospective buyers.  You could even get some used Camry alloys to have a decent looking winter package.

My question is though, what size tire would you run on the 17's to be close to the 245/50/20 (V6) or 245/55/19 (I4) combos?

245/65R17 is the closest at a 0.38% difference.  For a narrower tire, you can either go with 235/70R17 (1.04% too tall) or 235/65R17 (2.1% too short).  235/65R17 is the most popular tire out of all these choices.

Then the 235/65/17 is what I'd go for.  Closest to the original size, but with a narrower width.  Also, since you mentioned it's the most popular of the three, I'd assume that also means the least expensive.
