Wheels poll
« on: January 06, 2009, 07:59:25 pm »
I am requesting your opinions folks...

I just picked up a set of 2008 OEM 17" alloys from a 2008 IS AWD (10 spoke). I was originally going to use them for the set of winter tires I just picked up, but after a photoshop request (a special shout out to laspalmas for your help with this!).

I am wondering if I should use my current ES 350 alloys as my winter wheels & the IS wheels for my all seasons (the winters will be on about 4 months of the year & exposed to the salt & grime etc we see this time of year & the the other set will see 8 months of generally decent weather).

Thanks in advance for your votes everyone!   :drive:

First two pics are the ES 350 Alloys (and currently on the car)...the second two are a photoshop of the IS 250 AWD Alloys I just picked up...

Six of one, half a dozen of the other, IMO.  ???

They're both nice looking rims, and both probably about the same in terms of quality. The ten-spokes might be harder to clean of snow and grime in the winter, but they'd also be harder to clean of brake dust in the summer.

How come the poll doesn't have a vote for Flip a Coin;)

I would use the brand new wheels, whatever you decide on, for the summer and install larger rubber (wider).

NOOOOOOOO

I misread the poll. :)

Disregard my lone vote for the IS wheels; I thought you were asking which to save for summer.

The 10 spokers will be tougher to clean (already mentioned above) and since I have experience with the multi-spoke summers, and six spoke winters; I can tell you the less spokes to clean, the better.

Use the ES ones for winter IMO.

How about mix and match them if you can't decide?   :D   I would use the 6 spokes for winter.  Maybe less openings for snow to get caught in and throw off the balance.
