I prefer the spools I can fill myself, cheaper and easier.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yeah that's what I have.  Not sure if it's considered a spool.  I buy a spool of nylon, cut from 4-7" and insert into each hole of the head.  Lasts me about 4-6 houses.  Problem with this method, every time I need to put new nylon in, I have to shut off the unit, and wait for the head to stop.

My weed whacker is a rechargeable B&D that is at least 15 years old and I don't remember ever changing the cord... :-\. It only takes me a few minutes for any weed whacking i have to do, but the thing still works great.  I just leave it plugged into the charger in garage all winter and still whackin away... :)

Didn't even know they have rechargeable weed whackers back then.  Great if it suits your needs, but I whack weeds 3 feet high, with roots over 1" in diameter, so gas it is.  And I have 24 clients. Did 10 today, great conditions, 20C, mix of sun and cloud.

Our yard is too big for one and the greenspace I maintain has too big of weeds for a rechargeable one.

I had to resort to a blade...awesome though.

Our yard is too big for one and the greenspace I maintain has too big of weeds for a rechargeable one.

I mow with a tractor and have the yard edged so that there are only a few small areas that the mower cant get to, so the whacker doesnt get much use, but i'm still surprised it has lasted this long.

My dad has had a few different cordless ones but has resorted to a gas one. His lasted maybe 2 years....and he bought ones of different brands and quality.

Bought one of these battery powered lawn mower from Home Depot. 40Volts, brushless motor, 20" deck. Extremely quiet, cuts the grass very well, even thick grass, the motor spools up when the grass is thick and slows down in the thinner areas. Very light too. It comes with 2 batteries but I can do my whole lawn with only one. Batteries charges in 90 minutes if completely empty. The whole thing does not look very sturdy but with some care it should last.

 Really happy with my purchase!

Had to buy a new pump for the falls.  Took about 15 min between taking it out of the box and getting water flowing again.  The new one is much more efficient, but slightly less flow than the old one.  Thank goodness for back-flow valves... :P

Out with the old. ..

In with the new...

Back in business. ..

^^ Is that your yard?  Looks fantastic!
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Yeah, thanks!  We didn't realize how much we missed it until it stopped.  Talk about the sound of silence.  It sounds and looks nice but the best part is it drowns out most of the ambient neighborhood noise.   It's really low maintenance as you simply take the pump out in the late fall and leave it in a bucket of water over the winter, then drop it back in the hole in the spring.  Took a few weeks to build it though... :P

I agree, your back yard looks fantastic! Nice work on the flagstone as well.

Yeah, I love that yard, so jealous.

exhaust fan in our main bathroom crapped out. Life sucked without it so I had to replace it asap. Bought a new Energy Star one at HD and started installing last night at 9:30pm....Finished at 12:30am, strong presence of Murphy's law - and wow do I ever hate working in the attic!
