No, just pine and only half kidding.  Lots of work though.  Each piece has to be sanded, then dusted off and then each piece has to be glued and screwed into place.  Then once assembled they are washed down with a cleaner, then one coat of stain, then a light sanding, then dusted off and tacked clean and then followed by 2 more coats of stain. Took a full weekend to assemble and another week of nights (about 4 hours/night) to finish for a total of about 40 hours and then cost of materials added to the initial cost of a the chairs all adds up.  Like I said nice project, but unless you have lots of time to burn, the extra $50 each, or so for assembled is well worth it IMO.

They do look good enough for inside use though, so I may have gone overboard on the finishing...as usual...

I know the work you mean, did similar work on kitchen cabinets, both sides, the sanding and painting.  Pain in the butt.  Nice work. Myself I can't sit in a not padded chair, with my boney butt.  Won't catch me sitting in a Muskoka chair, or even a park bench.

Well, that's another story...and expense!  Now, according to the Mrs they're gonna need red seat cushions and a matching umbrella even though the one we have is fine... ::)

I think they are fine without padding and with my messed up back that is saying something! Not your typical Muskoka's because I don't like them either.  The plastic ones I replaced were uncomfortable and flimsy and felt like they would buckle in hot weather.  They are on display at most costco's, so try them if you get a chance.  They're made in ontario...Bear Chair Co.

Edit: They come with sh!tty plated steel screws though, so they have to be replaced and good screws are expensive...

Yeah, land is still relatively cheap to buy here, but property taxes are getting up there.  I had that exact conversation last night with my friend visiting from Vancouver.  His property taxes are only a few hundred dollars more than mine even though his house is worth easily twice as much.   I guess it's one of the drawbacks of being sparsely populated... :-\

Yep, when we were house shopping we looked at a lot of places in smaller towns further out from the city and because they don't have the population or the big businesses to feed the necessary tax revenues, everyone has to pay a little more of their share....Still though, I often find myself craving a small town.

Bought these chairs at Costco back in early may and finally got around to completing them in time for this weekend.  Nice project and chairs are good quality Canadian made, but figuring time and materials I rekon they cost me around $600 each...:P

I would probably spend more time with the weed eater, than the lawnmower (in the back anyway, it seems)

I had to make a minor adjustment to accommodate the rocker of the 17 ft. canoe.  It worked perfectly and was rock solid. You could grab it from anywhere and only the truck would move.

Bought a wireless charger for my nexus 4:

I really like it! It's quite convenient to have the phone in one place, and be able to answer/use the phone without fumbling with a wire... and apparently the slower charging rate is better for the phone's battery (which is definitely the weakest point of the phone)

I'm not sure the iphone/ipods have  built in wireless charging, the nexus line of phones have Qi charging (a wireless charging standard)

You can certainly get wireless charging cases, but that adds bulk/expense.

^ Echo or Stihl?  I wouldn't recommend the cartridge style nylon strips, that are about 6 inches long.  They don't last.  Unless that one has a spool, which is ok.

I was buying some nylon wire for my Echo today, and was complaining about how they don't last very long.  Guy said to soak in water overnight, every once in a while.  Thinking of doing that.  Guess you can't do that in your case.
