Like the look of the Sportback.

The UK Mitsu equivalent...

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/225168/mitsubishi_ralliart_sportback.html

A good but not a favorable review. A sup-up Lancer rather than a baby EVO.

Bang for the Buck comparison in the current Car & Driver:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison_test/sedans/chevy_cobalt_ss_vs_honda_civic_si_and_five_other_sport_compacts_comparison_test/(page)/1

MS3 wins again.  The WRX came 4th behind the Cobalt and GTI.

Well, after getting stuck three times between the office and my house today, I've got to say a sporty car with  more ground clearance and AWD is a bit more appealing to me now than it was when I drove the 265.   :-[

I drove all the way from Pine Valley and the 407 tonight in 1:15. The hardest part was getting out of the parking lot at the office. Had to shut off the traction control. Of course, once I got home to our street I had to park it on the road as the plows left a 3' high mound.
Overall though the RX-8 does well in the snow with the snows but yes, the AWD capability is a selling feature in this Wx.
I wonder how Bob is finding his first real taste of Canadian Winter?

Thats why I keep a shovel in the back of my trunk (and a bag of traction sand)   :P
(Yesterday I had to shovel part of the alley so... i could get out)
RX-8 does feel a little floaty
and acceleration from a stand-still... lets say buses beat me from stoplight.

Depends on when you take the picture ;)

Holy :censor:, today wasn't funny!  I got back from work about 2:30pm and spent about an hour shoveling the driveway, it was about 2ft deep pretty much across the whole thing.  Then went out to get some essentials and nearly got stuck a few times, had to get over a mound about 3ft tall just to get back into our road!

Now I've seen how bad the driving can get, and after reading James' review of the G8, I think that if our second car is not gonna be cuv size/height then it definitely has to be 4WD.

Some people were out in Waterloo today without snow tires, morons...

265 tops my list at the moment, Evo second.

Those windrows are a total PITA Bob.   I stayed in yesterday, spent an hour shoveling and as soon as the sun comes up today I have a  3ft wide 2ft high compressed snow windrow across the driveway to get out.

I dunno about a Subaru  but I think I'll miss my "old fashioned" fixed torque f/r AWD BMW this winter.

The Mazdaspeed6 at $28,000 seem like an awefully good deal right now.

Indeed it does.  And if -- like you -- I could find a dealership nearby that still had a new one sitting on the lot, I'd see just how anxious they were to part with it.  ;)

Bob, you think 2feet of snow is bad? Ha ;)

1 hour shoveling ?  Ha, I remember that storm last year where it was 5-6 hours of shovelling!!!  And I had a small snowblower to help!

PS.  Love my truck in this stuff, I can drive over those 3foot high banks easily :P

Actually Bridge, poor Bobby hadn't even started winter in Canada when he wrote that.  He was still enjoying AUTUMN in Waterloo!

By mid-January he'll be as surly (yet muscular) as the rest of us from all the shovelling.  Unless (to bring this back on topic) he has an AWD car (such as the Subie 265) to go out and play in the snow.  Yeehaw!
