Went to see this rally this weekend with GD and his mate Mark, who is also a thoroughly great guy. I haven't seen any live motorsport in a while so it was great to get out and hear the burble of a rally exhaust, I just love the sound of those cars, takes me back to the WRC event I went to in Cardiff a few years back. Anyway, here are some pics, hope you enjoy...
Racing Evo X

Some modified lettering on the back of one of the evo's ha ha..

Great looking new Subaru STi

Best driver there, or best car, one of the two, I think he eventually won it.

Hyundai Tiburon, I think he won last year and prior years.

Another Evo

Gotta love this car...

The spectator section

A team from the US, included Dave Mirra the ex-BMXer. His blog from last year's race:

The "2 Brits Racing" team, with a bit of crash damage.

I love this car, the Suzuki Swift! Of the more amatuer driver these were by far the most ballsy and entertaining, well done fellas!

Ford Capri

Another great old car, the BMW 2002. I spoke to the owners of this and had a good look inside too, great little car, and I bet really good fun to rally!

New STi parked up

same again

The 2002 up close

Safety car, slightly safer than the other one, which caught fire after a lap of the super special stage. That was hilarious!

Bancroft, a nice little town.

It was pretty cold but the weather was good all day, not a cloud in the sky. I think it was -9C when we left...

The Subaru out again, first one on the night stage.

Scooby at night

Number 9

The lights were amazing, and really showed up the quick changes in direction as they handbraked round the hairpins.

Another scooby, I think that was the Brits again with a piece of trunk missing.

And the all out Suzuki!

P.S. For anyone interested in the photography most of the daytime panning shots were taken with a D300, 18-200mm VR lens, 1/125th-1/160th @ f14. The night shots were all taken with the same camera, 50mm lens, 1/30th @ f2. Or a shutter speed of 1/125th if I used the flash.
