Dying seats for BMW Sport Seats
« on: November 21, 2008, 07:28:12 am »
Have a chance to buy some used BMW Sport seats with memory, in Grey
We have BMW Sport seats without memory
The interior is beige, it would cost $100 to get seats dyed
As anyone dyed seats before? How long would it last?

air - are you sure that can be done? I would think dying grey to beige would be difficult to get the color correct. I can see beige to black, or grey to black but can't think that grey to beige will work?? I would do some serious checking at several places before committing.

Might be more effective to bring the seats to an upholstery shop and have them re-done (by that I mean re-covered) in the colour you wish. This way it will probably last longer and you will not have to mess around with dyes and what not. I have a feeling it is going to be expensive though :-\... I could be wrong however.

Are they leather seats?  Or cloth?  For leather all they do is spray a colour over them in effect .... spray painting them.  The dye is flexible etc.... You may be better off having them reupholstered.
